Shade of last summer! A severe heat wave coming and around here we haven't had any measurable rain for over a month. Is the summer of 2011 here again?

Believe it or not, it's the same in Ohio. We've had no rain in weeks, and dreadful heat. Tomorrow is supposed to be 103°. In Ohio! And no rain in the next 10 days... Bleh!

It was 109 here yesterday. No telling what it'll be today!

103 here for the last three days, it is getting to be exhausting keeping those plants watered.

I know!! It's been a month and a half here with no rain, just to add to the problems!! It hasn't been as hot here as San Antonio, because of our hills and altitude. Still, any100+ is horrendous! I went to Houston and Surfside Beach this weekend. Went to leave DD's beautiful house in Houston on Sunday afternoon to go home. Well, guess what didn't work? The A/C, of course! Had never had any real problems with the A/C in this car. And it just had to happen on a really hot day like that...it was 100+, don't know exactly. But I eventually gave up and hung around a Starbucks. Finally, when the sun was going down (and the temps) I got back on the road and made it home okay. I think I'm just cursed...any time I go to Houston something bad happens. We're going to have to have that A/C worked on. We just got the brakes worked on a couple days before I left...always something!

It was a balmy 103 this afternoon....
I stand corrected...it was 106.

It sure does feel like last year. I remember finally getting to the point where I couldn't work outside while the sun was out, and I'm feeling like that right now, too. It looks like we might get some relief this weekend.

True! Even today, it's not as hot. No 100+, even in San Antonio. What I hate is that as I get older, the heat gets harder and harder on me. More indoor time this time of year.

I have notice this myself in the last couple of years. We are only getting temps in the mid 90s, which is usually no big deal to me, but the last couple of years I can't take it. Even relatively easy thing like photographing wildflowers is rough.

I dragged DH to Home Depot to look at fixtures for an outdoor shower. For some reason, he really didn't think I was serious! He does now. I want an enclosure too.

It's currently 100° in Cincinnati. Hey, this is Ohio. We didn't sign up for this! We're north of the Mason-Dison line. It's not supposed to get this hot here.

It's too hot for me. I'm going to sit in the air conditioning and read.

It rains in Victoria.
In Victoria have been some rain in the last two months.
I can not make good comparisons with last year because last year I lived in Corpus Christi. But I was frequently in Beevile. Also I visited twice Victoria.
My opinion is that it certainly is not like last year.
At least not in so extensive area as last year.
But the heat of the day is very high and the water evaporates quickly. It is difficult for flowers in pots. There were days when I had to put water twice. And seems like was not enough.
Now it is raining. Not very strong. And I think will stop soon (Same was and three days ago). Will be not enough. But better like nothing.
And even with a little rain, the wildflowers will rise again!
Some wild flowers from Victoria, Tx, to bring rain for those who did not have yet an happy rain.

I know there are still people having problems with to little rain, but compare the current conditions with one year ago should give you a little hope.

So good to hear someone is getting some much needed rain! We only got to 100° yesterday. I've been out watering this morning. The hibiscus are enjoying the heat. The brugmansias and roses, not so much. I have plumerias blooming and they smell so good in the early morning and late evening. Out front the beauty berries are beginning to sport some berries.

Yes, that's a wonderful thing. But the drought areas just seem to move around from year to year. Colorado is in awful shape with that wildfire. If you look at the map of the whole country- Georgia and SC are in bad shape, and we're not faring well in the midwest either.

Last year we had just the opposite- cooler than normal, and twice our normal yearly rainfall. (our norm is 40", last year we got 73").
