Thread OP

I was just outside watering plants, and I noticed a white, papery growth on quite a few of the stems of the flowers on my hosta. Does anyone know what this could be? The plants look like they are thriving otherwise, and the white growth is on a couple of inches of each flower stem. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Welcome to the site, a geographic location would help, plus a picture. Are they approx 1-1.5 inches and pointed?

I'm in upstate New York. It's dark out now, but I'll post a picture tomorrow morning. Thank you!

I think they are plant hoppers. If you disturb them they will jump. Mealy bugs are not capable of jumping. I usually see some each summer. I physically destroy them.

I hosed down my plants and saw many hopping off.
