[...I recently started growing 21 sempervivum seeds. They had a 100% germination success rate, which I was very pleased with! However, I wondered if anybody knew do the red varieties of Sempervivum have red seedlings? Or would I have to wait until they're older? Thank you for looking, have a lovely day.]

Pia, mine started to show color and characteristics such as webbing, when they got bigger and really looked like semps. It took them about 4 months from the time of sowing to do this.

Yours look wonderful!! Hurray! Hurray!

[...thank you so very much Sandnsea, this is the first time I ever tried seeds. I usually just take the chicks.. But the thought that all those seeds could turn out to be so different is just fascinating. I have caught the Semp fever! Big Grin Will keep you guys updated on their progress!]

Hi Pia Welcome! Great to have you here!

I'll enjoy pictures of watching your babies grow. 100% germination rate is fantastic! Thumbs up I haven't started any from seed yet - one of these days.

Great photo Pia. Where did you get your seeds from?

I agree with Janice, it will take them awhile to start showing what there color will be. Some times the webbing characteristic can show up pretty quickly. It will be so much fun to watch them grow up.

Hurray! Another semp convert. Group hug

[...much appreciate the links! Thank you! believe it or not, the mixed Semp seeds were just £0.99 from ebay! I used a glass jar and some moist paper, put them in refridgerator for 2 days and then on the window sill. Once they all germinated and were big enough to move, I put them in a glass cookie jar for humidity until they get bigger, and need spacing out.]

I started a packet of 300, of which about 100 have sprouted to look about like yours. Just itty bitty things. I am growing mine indoors under lights.

[...mine are on my windowsill, in a jar. Yours should get bigger faster, because of the lights. It will be nice to see. I only did 21 seeds, as I'm a novice and I didn't wanna overwhelm myself. I cannot wait for them to start getting bigger though! I think I might call the series something like Utopian Abyss.] Smiling

[...I've never grown flowers, so would love to experiment! Currently I'm stratifying 3 Acer Palmatum seeds and 4 white rose seeds. Hopefully they'll germinate! So far I have failed twice with those seeds. Fingers crossed it will be third time lucky!] Smiling

Pia, I went to a British boarding school called Kent School in Germany for service brats. Small world sort of. Took the ferry over on weekends with friends sometimes.
