Thread OP

I have put together a basic design for a small outdoor patio area.

It's pretty simple. I already have the table and chairs. Unfortunately, due to various supplier websites being unhelpful, I have not been able to find the materials to put the base together. Which is annoying, because something like this seems like it should be very simple.

Anyone know what materials I could use for this, and where I might find them? I live in central Minnesota, and am looking for something relatively inexpensive. Maybe a couple hundred dollars at most.

Check big box hardware stores like Menards or Home Depot for options. If you don't see anything in person you like, go to the Pro (or Contractor's Desk) and talk to someone up there. They will be able to help you find something.

It looks like you have two different scales going on in the photo. Are you sure you have enough space for the patio?

Might try local "rock quarries" in the phone book .....
start somewhere local if possible so you can actually see what is available

do a google search for > "rock quarries in mn " may lead to something, perhaps even close by

Keep in mind, the less distance it has to travel, the less it will cost

Some brickyards may carry slate

Also ...some granite counter top suppliers may have on hand either damaged or miscut pieces laying around -
