It's 29 degrees and snowing. Again. I'm not going to complain (that much) as we need the moisture desperately.. it's been such a dry & cold winter. So I'm calling on every beautiful person here to send me at least one picture of a purdy rose... just so I don't get too depressed. Sad :( :(

I've pruned things down to a nub, so there are no roses blooming here, but here's a picture from last May.

OH MY! Zuzu that pic is GORGEOUS!
We've had a bitter cold winter but unlike other parts of the country...we're below average for snowfall. Good for driving, not good for the plants.
Counting the days until Spring.

It's been foggy, frosty and feeling colder than normal with the higher humidity the last 45 days. My Dad used to say that hoar frost meant heavy rain in 6 months. If that is true, the beginning of August will be a soggy one.

The Calgary Rose Society has 2 sales where they sell roses direct from the grower. It is they're biggest fund raiser. We have a booth at the local Garden Show in Mid April and we do a Mini -Rose Sale on Mother's Day weekend. I very excited to be involved on the committee that orders the roses & organizes the events. I helped last year and my most favorite part was unpacking the hundreds of roses from the supplier and sorting them out. The best is getting 1st pick to buy any.

Love the Rose cubit. It is set up very nicely. If you are interested come check out my Seed Starting Cubit. Hey just noticed the little goofy faces are at the bottom of the screen now.

Those two sales do sound like great opportunities for picking up roses, Joanne. I see you went back to Joannabanana. I'll come to your cubit and I hope everyone else checks it out too.

Yes, those sales are really fun. Last year the mini roses were very seductive and I bought about a dozen. I really liked the Burgundy Iceberg that I bought thru the 1st sale last year. My daughter liked the mini rose sale the best.

Yes, please do check out the seed Starting cubit. There is a little chat area under Welcome and Garden Patio Visit, since that's where I visit in reality with my friends throughout the summer.
