Making Your Own Standard Roses

This last winter wasn’t as cold as most, at least not for us, but you may still have some roses that have not survived. Sometimes you only lose the grafted rose and come spring all you see are suckers from the rootstock. Depressing, but look on the bright side - those suckers are ideal for making your own standard roses!

I'm going to try this..... I have the best long canes I've been saving, but never thought about air-layering. That is brillaint and fairly easy to do. My question is how to remove the bud eyes on the stem? I never see this step mentioned when discussing standards or bush grafts. I'm open to a video on this subject
