As I saw a rebloom scape on Mary Burgent's Vineland L'uva I couldn't help mentioning her as a wonderful lady. She is Morning_star on the LA. Her website = http://www.morningstardaylilie...

Flowersgalore said:I've ordered mostly from Oakes. They send nice large bunches, have a good selection and a good "$10 or less" section.

I have been looking at Park Lane Daylilies, too. Hope someone will put up a comment about them.

I've received two orders from Park Lane and both were suburb with large healthy fans and generous bonus plants. Roth is another that went above and beyond.

My Schrieners were average at best. I got three plants from them early summer. (First time buying from them.)They were late on shipping them as promised. They look like they were dug and stored in a holding area to me. No communication prior to me contacting them about my order.

Interesting observation on Shriener's Mike. My experience has been just the direct opposite . I've ordered DL's from them several times and always have been very happy with what they sent. Some I planted in June are blooming now. I am planning on ordering again from them next spring.

My last experience with Schreiner's was similar to Mike's -- but they've grown well and I'm pretty sure they'll bloom next year. And I don't mind that if it's something I really want. I'm just a little more hesitant than before, and when I compare them with the gorgeous plants I get from Floyd Cove, Pat Stamile or Fred Manning (Spunky1) -- then they don't look so good...

What makes it harder is remembering what those plants used to look like when you got them. I wasnt jazzed at all with them, but they are not dead either.

They are field grown, I have been there myself more than once. They dig them while you are there, or you can order online and have them shipped.

I looked at Coming Alive today. I got it from Schriener's and planted in June. It is now a clump with 5 bloom stalks coming. Weather will depend on if I see it or not.

My only problem with Schriener's is they send kind of late. I have had 2 orders the past 2 years. I order late winter and then during their sale in June. The winter order never comes before mid June or later. I think they wait until they bloom first before digging. The June one shows up mid to late July not sure why they don't send those out right away.
Plants are usually healthy and a lot bloom the same year as they were put in the ground which I like. The only disappointment is Legendary bought first order last year no growth or flowers yet Sad

In TX, I shop several local daylily growers within easy drives and similar climates: Glenda Mae's, Big Chicken [FB site], East Texas Daylilies [no web site] and The Lily Farm. The last two are active hybridizers. Mark Carpenter sends new intros as bonuses with mail orders and provides bonuses for on-site purchases. All nice people to deal with.

mystlw said:Interestingly, I was just thinking a couple of days ago that I've given more money to one seller than any of about a dozen that I've ordered from. I've gotten many of my pricier daylilies from Michael Miller (Small World). Pretty sure I also owe him my firstborn.

I've spent more on the Lily Auction, but that's been spread out over several different sellers. If you haven't made an account there, I highly recommend it; you can get some great buys there and save money on your most wanted.

I'm glad you order from Michael. He does good work.

If I were a sales nursery (heaven forbid) two years ago I would have sent large healthy divisions, last year they would have been puny, this year my bonus plants would have been bind weed.

Growers have different seasons and one year's orders might be different from another's.

Just a thought.

I wanted to add another thumbs up for Park Lane! Wonderful experience and stunning plants.

Floyd Cove has always been unbelievable to work with and I can't recommend them enough! Karen is a delight!

Spring Wood Gardens/Emmerich is also a favorite - I love her plants so much and I like being able to buy from the hybridizer - when I can!

CT dayliles was great to work with. Super plants! Generous! And as a Northern grower - it's nice to know the plants are ready for what's coming!

Northern Lights is wildly affordable - and I've been most impressed by their introductions.

Heavenly Gardens/Gossard.... is a busy man. Once my order was found again - and what was still available was shipped (replaced by wildly generous substitutes)... I was/am happy overall. I will likely attempt to order from him again... his plants are just so wild and, again, I like to order from the hybridizer when I can.

I've had mixed results ordering dayliles from Schreiner's - from amazing to rather sad. They did replace two that didn't make it in the first year and were very professional and treated me very well. I will likely order from them again - and hope for the good results! (Their iris are always perfect)

Smokey's was decent the first time I ordered some three years ago - but this year was just flat out bad! The fans arrived moldy and tiny and sad. Never again.

Overall sellers on LA have really disappointed me. I doubt I'll spend much more money there unless it's from one of the few that haven't let me down - ie: incorrect plant/s sent - plants mislabeled - stock sold they didn't have, no communication - etc. (CT/Rich and Abundant Daylilies I trust and would recommend.)
