While my gaden is mostly perennials it would be missing something without the annuals

I have a collection of pots on the potting compound, that are mostly blooming with self sown annuals.

New to me this year is this summer poinsettia
this is only one plant given to me and it is taking up the whole pot .
A little concerned if it self sows I may have an unwanted weed? Shrug!

A lovely rust-colored coleus (maybe 'Flame Nettle'?) planted with a sweet potato vine. My favorite combination group this year, I think:

And my coleus 'Autumn Red' (I think, as it was just labeled 'coleus' when purchased) at the beginning of spring:

All lovely, but especially your petunia basket in photo 2. I envy you, @GardenGirlInPink . I have trouble keeping petunias more than a month or so in early Spring. In Central Texas scorching summer heat, if I put them in shadier areas they don't bloom much. If I put them in full sun, the foliage burns off in no time even with 2xdaily watering.

Thank you Peggy. I have had the same luck with regular petunias. These varieties are called supertunias. I have to water them heavily and fertilize often. I am so pleased with them. Hurray!

@Peggy8b, I live in zone 7b, I know about that scorching summer heat! I never could grow pets, either. This year I tried million bells; calibrochoa, success!

My yard is starting to fade and there has already been a light frost outside the city a few days ago. Thought I would catch a few more pictures of the backyard before it's over for another season.
