Some pics I took today. I am embarrassed to say I haven't taken good care of my maris, zins and cosmos this year.

Simply beautiful, Cinda. Boy, do I envy you all your room and space for your flowers. I really liked the combo in the tall urn in first pic; proves that bigger is better! The dusty miller is a good contrast color for all the hot shades; I use it a lot that way. I wish I could get thunbergias to grow like yours, I will try to next year. Big thumbs up for your beautiful annuals! Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

Loretta, I see we like the same zinns and maris! I recognized strawberry blonde maris, queen lime zinns, and that beauty of a marigold that looks like a great orange puffball, what is the name? Please tell, the collage of zinns above that marigold, are they of the queen series? Love the plecanthrus(sic)? And the caladium, I really like the white ones. And yeah to anything with variegated leaves! Hurray! Hurray!

I did notice that, Lynda. The Marigold is Mission Giant Yellow from Burpee off the rack at Walmart. The other zinnia is Queen Lime Orange which is my favorite of the ones I have tried at the moment. It looks like I included some orange in the queen lime blush grouping.
I'm with you when it comes to variegated leaves.

Oh, yeah, that's the marigold, awesome, isn't it? I have the queen lime and queen lime with blotch, which is supposed to have a purple tint. Of course I didn't mark mine when I planted, and that end of the bed is a mess. I plan to get the queen lime orange next year, and any other queen lime they come up with.oh, and do better gardening in my own yard. I did so much work for my Master Gardeners group that I kind of neglected my own yard. I did build a new raised tomato bed, and had good results with my tomatoes. It is hard to get good tomatoes here, we have all sorts of funky diseases, and then there are aphids and the hornworms. Grumbling

I love annuals because they bloom from June to autumn in my climate. I start to sow some seeds at home in late winter or early spring for early flowering. And in May I can sow some flowers in the ground.
I really love Lobelia.

Those of you who think your weather is too hot for petunias, should try Laura Bush petunias. They're wonderful, they love extreme heat, they reseed....

I agree, Karen. And they are tolerant of the early frosts ! These have reseeded each year, and the colors are different each year..

Speaking of good petunias, check out select seeds, they have some old fashioned ones that reseed readily and actually smell good. Most of them are vining ones. nodding

Beautiful Larisa! Snapdragons don't do well here once the hottest weather hits. I keep trying though. Do you happen to know the name of the double yellow begonia in the white pot? I'm assuming it's a begonia?
Lynda, I have tried some of the petunias from Select Seeds such as Alderman just to experience the lost petunia scent. I have only gotten them to vine inconspicuously through other plants and haven't yet gotten a good display. Have you been more successful? Most likely I can't give them an early enough start with good light and space.

No, I haven't tried them yet. I noticed them when I ordered annual flower seed last year. I kind of kept them in the back of my mind to try them in 2020. The seeds I grew this summer I was very pleased with, especially the marigolds. Thumbs up
