I just started gardening last year, and recently discovered sedums. Now my garden is full of them. I just love these plants, and the variety seems to be endless! They even thrive in my awful clay soil.

I just bought several Autumn Fire plants, which I'm going to alternate with Sunsparklers. I never saw bees invade plants like this before, there are dozens on each plant. How can I get the bees off the plants so I can put them in the ground?

Go out early in the morning, or later in the evening. Are they honey bees or Bumble bees?
Some times the Bumbles sleep over night in the foliage of the plant.

At first they were bumble bees. Now there are also yellow jackets. They're multiplying, they're inviting all their friends! I have a small garden and it's very close to my house. I can't have all these bees around. I'm afraid they're going to make a nest and settle in.

It's supposed to storm tomorrow. Hopefully the bees will take a day off so I can get to the plants. Sadly I'm going to give the unplanted sedum away, and pull out the ones in ground to gift as well.

And thanks for the comment about my avatar. That's my beautiful Friesian horse!

Hi @Narnia

I can sure relate to all the bees and your sedums. I have the same thing here. I find that early mornings and cloudy, windy days are my best times to work around them. I'm allergic to bee stings, but just can't give up my sedums, so I try to be out in the gardens when they aren't.
