Thanks Vic. I guess it is a labor of love for me. I grew up in a family where most everything we ate was home grown; including milk, eggs and meats. I've never been able to "shake" that feeling of "home grown" to this day. And yes the gardens need a rest and so do I. It gives me a lot of time to plan in the winter months.

Leon, I love your beautiful photos and your writing. Your sentiments are a bit bittersweet to me. I hate to see the summer season end and find I am a bit morose as the days grow short.

And I am slowly realizing that the need is for reduction in garden sizes and numbers of plants in them. I suppose if one is accustomed to large gardens and landscapes that the real difficulty is acknowledging our limitations; there are only so many hours in one day. And senior bodies do not have the energy, stamina and endurance as when we were in our twenties! I believe I have come to that point. Sad to say that is reality!

This touched on something that has been on my mind lately as well. I have been wondering what the turning point will be for me. I factor this in on everything I do, everthing I plan for. I guess time will tell.

Thanks for a wonderful post and sharing your beautiful gardens.
