My zone has changed from 5b to 6a.

Guess I'm now in Zone 9b.

Looks like I'm now in 7a, which is totally wrong! My Dad called me the other day and said he went from 3b to 7a. It is still freezing at his house some nights! There is no way he's in 7a either!

The gum'ment keeps trying to tell me that I'm in zone 9b. Heck, daylilies don't like growing in 9b. They like the cooler 9a. That's where I tell them we are.

They changed our zone too. But, I don't believe it. I still stick to plants for zone 5b. They say we are 6b. Last winter it was down to 10 degrees, but winter before we had -15 if I remember right.

I believe our zone change is correct. Our winters have been getting progressively milder.

According to that map I am right on the edge of 5b and 6a. It's strange given that I've seen a cold spell that was down to -19 and I have only lived here since 2007.

We haven't seen any minus temperatures in several years. I can remember having 8 to l0 below zero in most winters but not any more.

We have had -20 in the past. Haven't seen anything like that
for awhile. Don't really agree with their zone for here. Not sure if they
are considering altitude. I'm keeping my zone as
it is until I see a few more winters making a liar out of me.

I'm in 9b and the temp ranges look about right to me. We hit 100's in the summer and down to about 25 in winter -- and my daylilies (about 450 now) seem to be doing OK.

Betty, do you have really cool nights in the spring that
cause the early to early mid daylilies not open? This is
the first year that I have had daylily problems on the
beginning and the end of blooming season.

They would not open in the spring, except for some older
ones which did just fine. Bloom time began about a month
earlier than usual. Then, I had less rebloom than usual. It
was more like recurrent bloom. We had to use shade cloth
for some due to the high temps. This year has been a hugh
adjustment for me and the plants.

I'm still a 7b in Huntsville AL.

Shirlee, I really haven't noticed that until this spring, which at the beginning was unusually cool -- and then we had great weather fluctuations all spring long. The one I had to "help" open time after time was WONDER OF IT ALL, actually to the point where I wondered if I should get rid of it. But I've decided to move it to a warmer spot and try it there.

So we both had the "odd" spring for first time this year.
My Wonder of it All does fairly well on opening. A warmer spot
should do the trick.
