plantladylin said:@CrazedHoosier, that is a very healthy plant indeed! Thumbs up I think you will love growing it and I hope you will share photos as your plant continues to mature! I'm so glad that you posted your photo of Philodendron bipennifolium because I hadn't checked on my plant in many months! It's been out in the screened atrium, hiding behind a bunch of other plants. When I lifted the wicker like plant stand to bring it over to the walkway, water began pouring out all over the place! I had no idea there was a non draining container still beneath this plant and with all the rain we've had lately, the thing was totally saturated!!! I found a bunch of soggy, dead leaves but luckily the plant hasn't rotted away! I kept it indoors for about a year but when we moved back to our home here in Sebastian last December all of my plants were unloaded from the truck and put here, there and everywhere around the yard and in the screened atrium as well as the pool enclosure.

My plant came from a cutting in a trade with someone on Daves Garden twelve or so years ago. It was labeled Philodendron panduriforme but someone on the DG Aroid forum said that my plant was not panduriforme, that it was P. bipennifolium, so that's what I've had it labeled as ever since. I've read the Exotic Rainforest page about both of them but I still get confused about the differences. I never allowed mine to climb and I'm sure if I'd given it better care over the years and given it something to climb, some of the leaves would have grown larger and changed shape but I'm not a very attentive plant caretaker anymore. *Blush*

I'm sure the plant world really misses Steve Lucas from Exotic Rainforest, he was a great guy and always so helpful with plants in the Aroid family. Here are his pages for both P. bipennifolium and P. panduriforme.

Here are photos I took a few minutes ago of my plant:

What a beautiful horsehead philo! Lovey dubby I originally took interest in it because of how low in care they are. It's not that I can't really care for mine or water it correctly, it's just I have poor lighting conditions and live in a place that gets -10 degrees each winter. I can't provide optimal conditions for almost anything. I'm surprised yours survived those soggy conditions - other aroids like common pothos, may have been out for the count in that position. Bog-tolerant plants FTW! Hilarious!

It seems the aroid business was a lot more popping (I didn't know what other word to use) in the earlier 2000s and 90s. If only I was into aroids at that time. Sighing!
Maybe we should get a second opinion...

Mariedorer, you've got a nice collection growing there! I have a couple of the Heart Leaf Philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum var. oxycardium) as well as Philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum var. oxycardium 'Brasil') Is your beautiful plant on the top shelf Pothos (Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue') ?? I have one that is recovering from sun damage. When we were preparing for a possible hurricane last month, my husband went out and moved all of my plants without my help due to the fact that I had a knee injury and wasn't very mobile. Unfortunately, some of the plants were left in the sun and suffered a bit.

Yes cebu blue on top and Brazil on bottom right. Those I've had for some time. The heart leaf was acquired unfortunately via funeral arrangment this spring, so it has a special place in my heart! The one in the middle (I thought) is a lemon lime philodendron. It was one single cutting, so after it got a few nodes long, I cut it and am trying to get it to root. I like really full, thick plants lol There is some new growth starting, hopefully it fills in next spring! Crossing Fingers! :cross_finger:

I had a Philodendron 'Lemon Lime' for awhile but I'm not sure what ever happened to it. We moved in 2016 and it either died, or got left behind at the old house. We made a couple of trips with the truck and trailer, just for all my plants but I did give some plants away and left some for the people who bought the house, so it may have been in one of those groups. Pretty plant; I haven't seen them offered for sale anywhere in a long while.

@plantladylin, I love that lemon lime! I think I've seen a couple on Etsy, but you're right, it is an uncommon plant nowadays. I'm sorry for your plant loss. Sad

Also, I believe your philodendron in the second photo of your previous post, is a burle marx. I love those philos, too!

Beautiful indeed! I've never propagated philodendron, so I'm hoping it goes well. I love watching plants grow from tiny cuttings!

I don't know for sure what the identity of that Philodendron in my above post is. I have difficult comparing photos so I can't say for certain that it's Philodendron 'Burle-Marx' The tag is long gone and I don't recall that name. Shrug!

This was another plant that I received it in a trade, labeled Philodendron domesticum but someone else said it was the cultivar 'Fantasy' so that's where my photo landed in our database. I have no clue what ever happened to this plant either.

I have this Philodendron growing up an oak tree in our backyard; it was growing here when we bought the house.

I'm so glad to see all your stuff guys! Yes Lin, Steve is missed. Can you imagine how much bigger and more informative his plant site would be if he was still here? You know that his wife sold the entire collection to one person who moved it to Indiana. I can;t imagine how much that cost to do. Steve and I used to get into some heated discussions sometimes on stuff but always ended up as friends. He was by profession a nature photographer before he became a plant guru. I think he did a lot of undersea work.

Who would willingly come to Indiana? There must've been something here they really wanted.

@Mariedorer, your philodendron sort of reminds me of one called 'Little Hope'. They have the cute, wavy leaves. The name also sorta reminds me of my future.
Maybe we should get a second opinion...

Marie, yes, that pretty little plant is definitely a Philodendron. We don't have any database photos yet of Tree Philodendron (Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum 'Little Hope')

Here's the entry for Tree Philodendron (Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum 'Hope') with photos for comparison.

It also reminds me of my neglected little Philodendron 'Deja Vu'

I'm a bit embarrassed to show some of my plants because of my neglectful care but I went outside and took a few photos.

Philodendron bipinnatifidum 'Hope'. The plastic pot is broken on one side and has very little soil remaining; when I moved it, bunches of ants came running out. I think I'll find a spot in the yard and plant this one in the ground.

Philodendron erubescens (I stuck the Cordyline cutting in the pot when I was pruning stuff a couple of months ago and it's rooted solid now) and Philodendron 'Brasil' (another plant that is reverting to green.)

These are two small Philodendrons I purchased online a couple of months ago; one was supposed to be McColley's Finale but I'm sure it's P. 'Autumn' and the other one peeking out from behind is P. 'Moonlight':

Not Philodendron but related ... Epipremnum aureum (Golden Pothos) that is growing wild on our property; vines are hanging down from one tree and scrambling along the ground and climbing another tree in the back right of the photo:

The variety 'Hope', is so much prettier than the regular philodendron bipinnatifidum IMO.

The philo erubescens, is so sleek and aesthetic. I can't believe I didn't know about it before. D'Oh! I think cordylines look good with everything. Lovey dubby

I have philo 'Prince of Orange'! I love it so much! They're such underrated plants. Fast-growing, easy care, and just so classy.

I always love seeing those epipremnums meandering up trees! It's amazing how different their mature leaves look compared to their tiny houseplant counterparts. Sadly, I'll never see a mature, naturally vined epipremnum. Stupid Indiana and its stupid winters. Thumbs down

This is one of my Philodendron gloriosums. This photo was taken in 2010, and the plant is showing variegated leaves. Every once in a while back then it would throw a variegated leaf, some also had white in them. in the 9 intervening years my plant went dormant because I had to kind of neglect my hobby. But the trunks (this philo has a trunking creeping growth habit) were still in the ground, and once it started getting water and fertilizer again it popped back out and basically started growing like it had never been away. I am hoping it will throw some variegated leaves again, because variegation in this plant is extremely rare. It kind of exciting, I keep looking for it on every new leaf.
