Post photos!
Don't squat with yer spurs on!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

MISSINGROSIE obviously disagrees with Prunus.
So please do add more clear images...even of the bare twigs would be sufficient.
Try not to get anything that distracts in the background.
Shrub would appear to be multiple stems...please take pic to show this as well.
I have taken liberty of lightening your 2nd pic in the hope MISSINGROSIE will be able to see what I see.....ie zig zag twigs...... see below
Link below shows zig zag stem even in winter.

You are mistaken

And I said Post photos! I would like to see what the garden looks like when the shrubs are chosen and in place.

Thank you! I will - I'm hoping to get started in the new year once we've managed to sort out a patio...
Yes the photos are not very good quality, I apologise for that. The leaves have fallen off now but I absolutely agree that it is the prunus, now that I've looked through multiple images and compared.
Thanks again all!

No. Once I saw the zig zag in the branches it seemed clear. No problem

You have found a super healthy shrub...all the tiny lumps are the flower buds.
Down south in England it would probably flower in March..up here in Scotland it will probably be April before you see any flowers open.
Enjoy!
