Peggy, if you want to rid yourself of a Beautyberry or a yaupon holly, I'm not that far away. 😝

Well I'd kind of like to keep all my Beautyberries. Now the yaupon, I probably have hundreds of them free-standing, and another 1,000,000 growing at the base of oak trees in the pasture. We keep saying we're going to cut them off the trunks of the larger oaks and burn them so they don't "clutter up" the look of the lovely pasture, but so far we've only cleared it off of 3 trees' trunks. Quite a job, that. But if you'd like some yaupon, bring a shovel and COME ON DOWN!!! I'm kidding, but if you really are interested in some, yours for the digging, just tree mail me girl. We could meet up there. The yaupon hollies were so loaded with berries Monday, a couple of them along the tree line looked orange. I said to Lance "Look at the tree leaves turning orange!" He pointed out it was berries on the yaupons.........and it was! We had to drive closer to the tree line for me to believe it.

Thanks, Peggy. Somehow I doubt if they'd transplant if they're as big as you're indicating.

Many years ago when I was sorta going to school at UT, I used to think that all the trees had berries. But then I got a stronger script in my glasses. 😝 Oh, well. They were pretty while my vision was blurry.

Speaking of Beautyberris, should I move my baby to a somewhat protected area? (outside of course.) So far it's handling the wind better than I am.

Yes and either dig it in the ground, plant it or cover the pot with mulch to protect the roots from cold weather. It could be planted in the ground now and mulched and this will give the roots time to grow and have a head start next spring. Good luck.

I took the picture a few weeks ago and think I've mulched it since then but will check. I'm giving it to a friend so won't dig a hole right now. (I'll make her or her husband do that.)

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to brave the wind and make sure I put plenty of mulch around it.

Yes, I would protect it since it's so young. Maybe tuck it up underneath other shrubs for some insulation and wind protection. I'd also put an inverted bucket blanket over it. Or you could bring inside to your garage just on the 32ΒΊ or lower nights.

Thanks, Peggy. I did go out in the wind and mulched it like crazy. Moved it where it's more protected. And then since it wasn't quite dark outside I got carried away mulching most everything, need it or not. It's so muddy outside. I'm lucky I still had some mulch. Now I'm thinking maybe I should grab some frost cloth but I really don't want to go back outside. Think I'll try a piece of glow in the dark candy and see if it makes me nuclear.
