Potted Plants Need Extra Care!

By Dutchlady1

When buying potted plants to put out in your garden, be sure to either transplant them as soon as possible, or remember to keep them well watered. Plants in pots dry out faster than in the ground!

Well, I'm quilty of waiting too long to plant new flowers, or not watering enough if I keep them in their original pots. Lost a lot of plants that way, so I can't procrastinate any more.

Hetty's tip is very true ... ask me how I know. Sad I have a tendency to purchase plants (with good intentions of planting them right away) but then I get them home and can't decide where I want to put them and they end up sitting somewhere with the thought that I will do it tomorrow! I am guilty of letting a few plants lie forgotten ... and some end up dead from lack of water. *Blush*

At least I am not the only one that loses plants this way. I always feel like a murderer. Every year I make a vow to not be temped by the plant sales in summer and I always weaken and purchase anyway. Then the dry hot weather sets in and it gets too hot to plant and then some of the poor things pass away. That always reminds me again of the vow I broke and that fall is a much better time for planting in my area. I need to put a sticky note on my computer to stay away from the plant sites in early summer! Sad
The Beauty of the moon-flower evokes music--the nocturnes of Chopin, the preludes of Debussy, and, above all, the long haunting cadences of \"Swan Lake\". You can hardly ask for more, from a little brown seed.-- Beverley Nichols 1898-1983
