Thread OP

I had several Sonia Roses and recently we lost the last one. They were in the care of a nursery owner and she tried to do a cutting for me it did not make it, she tried grafting it and the flower turned out Red.
Yesterday she decided to dig it up and reported back that it was dead but it was also over 20 years old. I called J&P and of course they no longer carry it and neither does anyone else. The Sonia is more then just a rose to me it was a family tradition and I would like to know where I can get another one or cuttings from one. One person on another site has some but when I inquired further all they would say is they are graftings and bumped the price up when she saw I was interested but she did not give any other information. I realize there are other roses that come close to Sonia, but it's not the same. Than you for any help or suggestions.

HMF lists several on line mail order nurseries that carry it.

Edmond's Roses
Heirloom Roses
Hortico

If they don't list it on line call them and check. Sometimes they only have a few and don't put them on their list or they can start one for you/

I bought a bagged "bareroot" at Lowe's this year for around $10. Unfortunately, it died due to canker after having a few blooms and after being transplanted from a pot to a flower bed. It's the 2nd time I've lost Sonia.

I have a rose that I bought from lowes. (Actually, I had bought 3, 2 from lowes, 1 from walmart. All the same colour,) called lady di rose. I swear these are sonia rose. Apparently, sonia is a parent of this rose. It does not look like lady di that I see online. It is very salmon, coral pink. Most beautiful rose. It is my most favorite of all my Rose's. It smells strong and spicy. Maybe you can try it from where i bought it. Pan american nursery ( aka windmill) I would show a picture but its buds havent quite opened up yet. I can attach a picture soon if interested 🤓⚘

I think I recently linked to PAN and its Windmill line. I'll look for the post. If not, try going to their website and finding what looks closest to your rose under the Windmill line if that what yours is.
