I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I did not tag this photo because I only know the names of 3 of the plants involved.

At the beginning of the growing season I pulled a few bricks from the brick-on-sand "entry" to my patio and plugged in some succulents I was able to buy inexpensively at Lowe's. It worked far better than I thought it would... the sedums spread like crazy and the other succulents not only survived but grew some.

I knew, however, the succulents would not survive the winter in the ground... so I potted them in a bonsai pot. That is what you see on the right side of the image.
The pot now sits on a table in front of a large south-facing window... where I hope it will do well.
