I am so looking forward to the contest! I am new to photography, I haven't really had a good camera to take pictures with. When my state wide newspaper that I subscribe to (25 year and counting), went digital, they were offering brand new I Pads to their customers for no extra charge. The only catch is give it back when you cancel the subscription. I won't be giving up my subscription any time soon. I am learning to use the camera on it, such a joy to take pics. I will be entering some of my pics, probably won't win anything, but it is such a kick to be doing so! Good luck to all and thank you, Bluestone!

Question about the categories.
If you enter five wildflower pictures and want to add one more, would it be ok to post the other one in the miscellaneous category? Thanks for your information. lucichar

Good question, I also wondered about that. I am sure this will be answered. Thumbs up

You could. The only real limitation is that you can only submit 5 per category and that the category should match what you submit. There's not really any requirement about what goes into Miscellaneous so it seems like your approach is fine.

Please refresh my memory.

While I know that pictures submitted to previous contests can't be entered again, but I don't remember if pictures that have been posted in a forum or entered in the NGA database can be submitted. (Given, of course, that they are one's own pictures.)

Photos that are in the database can be entered in the competition - when you go into a submission page you are asked to 'click here' if you want to do so.

Thanks. I don't know if I'll even get around to submitting any. It's so sad. I have such bad vision (have an eye 'syndrome') that I always think my pictures look good until someone lets me know otherwise. 😝

Enter anyway! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Old, hackneyed expression, but so true.

I totally agree with you. But if you were to look at the photographs that I used to shoot and compare them to what I can do now, you'd see a marked difference. However, I have a friend who is 'visually impaired' (the politically correct phrase) and loves to play with a camera. I've seen some exceptional pictures that she's taken. So you never know.

Mostly I take pictures around my garden to get a date & time stamp so I can compare to past or future growth.
