The look of the spines is really deceiving, as they are sorta soft.

Neoregelia 'Groves Red Tiger' is my worst spined Bromeliad. You hit those claws wrong and they will draw blood.

I agree As klutzy as I am, I can see myself being seriously injured by those teeth! LOL, I jammed my finger on Neo. teeth a few days ago but thankfully those aren't as lethal as some of the others. I'm really careful when I'm walking around my Aechmea 'Burgundy' (Scot, I think this is one I got from you a couple of years ago.)

Thanks y'all ... they aren't planted, all are in plastic orchid baskets with coconut fiber and just sitting together in the flower bed.

Hurray! Wow, that is just gorgeous, Lin! I love it, and you can change the plants out when you want to. Is it in a pool screened area? I am getting very jealous of all of you Floridians.

Karen, yes ... I can't imagine having a pool without it being screened. I've heard and read of instances here in Fla. where people (whose pools aren't screened) finding gators, snakes and even black bears in their pools! Blinking I did find a bat in our screened pool area a couple of years ago; it likely got in when my husband had the door open to the yard for the dogs one evening. Luckily the bat didn't drown and hubby was able to scoop it out with the long handled net. Smiling

Mine is not screened and I can't convince my husband to screen it. He likes the 'unobstructed view' of the woods. But it makes the pool 500 times harder to keep clean. I have found armadillos, possums, rabbits, snakes (including water moccasins and a rattlesnake), lizards and frogs in my pool before. I scoop them out with a net and let them loose back in the woods. I have a habit of checking the pool daily in the morning to hopefully get anything out before it drowns

Gina, I too like an unobstructed view but I'd hate to go to le the dogs out in the morning and find "other" critters in the pool, especially a snake or gator!! Blinking

I don't have pool. I enjoy Y pool. They do maintenance. This is what I found in compost bin yesterday!

Possum! Thankfully, none of the gators from the bayou across the street will climb in compost, I hope!
