In February, I took pictures of my drive into work. I did it again, much to the discernment of other drivers. They get kinda nervous when they see a large grey van weaving around & a woman driving holding a camera out the window. Dunno why.

Here's some pics of what I see every day on my way into work.

As the crow flies, I'm about 50 miles from the foothills.

Of course, we can't live w/o our stupid golf courses, can we.

The foothills don't have much snow, but the peaks are just PACKED. Sorry this is kinda cadiwonka.

I think this is Longs Peak, but I could very easily be mistaken.

OK, I tried to do a panoramic series of shots. This entire stretch of the next 9 pictures is about .. oh.. 100? miles of the Front Range.

This should be about 10 miles worth of mountains in each shot.

Here in the Denver metro, the rule of thumb on not getting lost is that the mountains are to the west. Everything here is created on a grid-like map so roads go the 4 directions for the most part. Only problem is that the founding fathers started a retarded rule of keeping the same name to the road, even if there's a giant break in the road. For example, Havana St goes from almost 100% from the north side of town in N Aurora south all the way to Highlands Ranch. But, it breaks off in 3 different spots, even to the point of a big lake in the middle. But, they kept the name Havana on both sides of the lake. So, if you think that you can get from Highlands Ranch up to N Aurora on Havana because, well, it's the same name, nope, not gonna happen unless you can drive under water! Happens EVERYWHERE. Then, in the extreme downtown area of Denver, the roads are actually kittycorner to every other street, so you have all kinds of problems driving in that area.

I hate Denver. It sucks.

We're still traveling north along the Front Range in these shots. Well, technically, I'm driving west & pointing my camera north, but, let's not let that get into the way!

We're getting to the edge of my vision as I'm driving into work.

OK, I've turned south now on my way into work, so this is the last shot from this morning. These mountains are a few miles south of Boulder and very near the Red Rocks Auditorium.

However, on this past Sunday, I did take a very nice picture of Pikes Peak. It's just south of Parker in Colorado Springs. Not a bad picture, considering it's about 50 miles away as well.

I can't believe it snows so much and there's not a trace of it left on the highway.

The landscape there is so level. I always think of Colorado as a whole bunch of mountains and nothing else.

Colorado is half mountains, half plains. On the eastern plains, it's very much so like Kansas, flat & boring. You can actually see the mountains from the Kansas border, provided there's not that much pollution. The "Western Slope" is exactly that, mountainous almost all the way to the Utah border. But that's where Moab is, and that's pretty mountainous, too. Denver proper sits in a basin where the Platte River flows through it. That's why where one of my co-workers, who lives downtown Denver, is zone 6, but my area fluxes from zone 5 to zone 4. It sucks. And the wind out here is hellacious. The only time it's not breezy/windy is in the ... uh.. hmm.. thinking.. well, it's ALWAYS windy! :D
