Mid-America order arrived today, 29 rhizomes. They are nice sized, fresh, with great roots. In TB's I order Flamingo Frenzy, Fire and Ice and Daring Decepetion and they sent Strawberry Freeze as a bonus. The rest were MDBs, SDBs, and IBs. They sent 2012 SDB bonuses Clear Blue Sky, My Cher, and 2012 MDB Keep Off. I'll get up early tomorrow morning while it is cool and plant. My soil is prepared and labels made.

They look nice and fresh, have fun planting.

Polly...I was going to post this on cubits after dark tonight. I've been outside puttering around. It is overcast and not so bloody hot. Also some ideas on how to have a successful sale/auction.

We had rain yesterday & this evening. Glad to see it as we had been using a watering can on new plants. Our watering ban comes on when the slow flowing river drops below a certain level.

We are still getting to the low 90's during the day but the mornings are cool and the evenings are cooling down. I'm watering quite often. One good thing that has happened with my iris orders is they came spread out, Superstition in early July, Ghio 10 days ago, my auction purchases were planted Monday and I will plant my Mid-America tomorrow and Friday. Keppel will come next week. I spread some mulch this morning and the Quail just love to take dust bathes in it. The Superstition starts are nice and green and sending up a new center leaf and some show increase. The others are still under the milk baskets.

That's a great looking order, Paul! I received mine the second week of July and potted them up, and a couple of days ago I checked and most of them have already rooted in the pots. Yea!!!

I'm planting mine this morning....have about 10 medians to go. I am trying a few TBs I got at our auction in pots as I wasn't sure where to plant them until all my orders were here. I want the best spots for the newest things. I'll plant the potted ones later when fall comes. My Superstition order that came in July looks wonderful including Picture Book that some one recommended.....Keppel order still to come and I'm glad they didn't all come at the same time.

Paul, if you get a chance, can you get a picture of the quail? We have them here, but very seldom see one, and it's fleeting. I just absolutely love seeing the wildlife from other states.

Polly....I'll try but my camera does best with close-ups. I planted medians in their dust bath this morning and covered the iris with some wire fencing tunnels so they won't dig them up. We have many Quail here. I see them all the time. They cleanup under my bird feeders in the winter in large flocks. Come spring they pair up and are a little more illusive. .Through out the summer I see pairs with partially grown chicks and just saw some new chicks the other day. They are rejoining in flocks [guess the word is covey] now but you can tell this years hatch because of their dull plumage. I used to see a lot of Ring-Necked Pheasants but don't see as many now. Off topic but...oh well

Well, it's your thread, so as long as you don't mind :)

We have pheasant also, but on a whole, the game birds other than turkeys are getting scarce it seems. Probably because the fox population is up.

I could do without the turkeys & their dustbaths. Have to put wire around the garden.
