I tip my hat to you. Glad to hear it Tom! Missed you in the last swap. BUT... Please don't over extend yourself.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. If I lived closer I'd offer to come over and help get your seeds sent off. I know I've been a VERY happy recipient of your generous seed giving over the past few years.

God Bless and good luck with your upcoming surgeries. Speedy recovery too! Gotta get back out in the wonderful soil come spring time. Group hug

@mmolyson, Hey Moggs,

I've also noticed in my two (or is it three?) short years of swapping: You never know what's really going to go fast or first. It is just as exciting to have your seeds bid on as it is to bid on those highly sought after seeds. When my seeds are bid on I feel great pride that someone else sees the value of my seeds. When they don't get bid on there is a little bit of a let down, but I temper that with the thought that "hey, I'm just starting out, I don't know what everybody already has, wants or needs, and if no one bids on my seeds I'm getting a whole bunch from them" Whistling Hilarious!

Also the wish lists or what items are starred - I will star many of the same plant, for instance beautyberry, I added all the listings of that to my wish list so that if they all get taken from one offer I can still find that plant from other offers, as soon as I get it I'll un-wish my others. So if you see plants that have lots of wishlists on it, that's not necessarily how many people are going to bid on each seed.

Only two more days!

I have to echo this. And thank you again rp for introducing me to this wonderful world of swap!

I almost didn't participate in the first swap I ever did here. I don't usually save seeds from most of the stuff I grow because (a) I'm never sure if I've saved seed or chaff😂, & (b) I usually look & its too early for seeds & then by the time I look again, its too late. So most of the seeds we get is from the local feed store/nursery. My husband feels it is a waste of time, space, etc. to grow anything you can't eat or use in some way. He's on oxygen plus other health issues, including a spinal cord injury (I think that's what its considered) so he can't garden like he once did. He can't walk far without tiring, or standing or stooping long. Not to mention getting the portable oxygen tank back & forth. So I've been collecting containers he can use to grow vegetables & herbs in on the back patio area. Here's some of the corn I'm offering that came from the feed store. This is his favorite corn so far.

The reason I was hesitant about joining a swap was I thought surely no one would want my seeds. To my surprise, people did & I got some things I had to look up to see what they were. I felt guilty for all the seeds I got in return.

Kathy,
You are so right about the excitement being the same or even more when folks like the seeds you've listed. After a few swaps you'll get your seed bank built up and will have more to offer.

The first year or two I bought seeds when they went on sale so I'd have things to offer. Chiltern seeds in the UK has a neat offer Bargain Basement collections where you get a big discount but don't know what type of seeds they'll send. They have a hardy perennial pack of 3,000 seeds for $2.95, a lottery mixture of 10,000 seeds for $2.60 and a 10 pack of seeds, individually labeled, for $5.83. https://www.chilternseeds.co.u...

@rockpile1369 Hi Karen,
Thanks for the info and insight! Everyone has been great sharing their wisdom about the seed swap. I am a little anxious about it because both Thursday and Friday nights I have social engagements at the same time the swap starts. I spend the whole year not going anywhere and the two night I get invited out happen to be on swap night! D'Oh! I think it is a conspiracy organized by my husband! I've filled up the two small produce drawers of "his" beer refrigerator with seed envelopes and he's afraid there will be more after the exchange! So I had him save small shipping boxes for me to send the seeds out; that seemed to make him happy! Little does he know! nodding Whistling

The first 2 nights don't take very long, you only have 3-5 tickets the first night and (i think) twice that the second. Just go through beforehand and make sure you have fewer than 20 five-starred items. Then at 6 excuse yourself for a bathroom break (or just pull out your phone in front of them; who knows theymay be interested enough to join next swap!). Less than 5 minutes and you're back at the party. It's those last couple nights that are hardest for me. Too many tickets to spend and too much time going back and forth on "do I really want that?"

I think I'm done listing for tonight. Still have lots to add but will wait until later in the swap (3rd or 4th day) when everyone has plenty of dibs.

I just added some daylily crosses. One is a seedling crossed with a NOID. The NOID can look very different each day so I wanted to show some pics of the different looks.

The same plant taken on different days. Seems to depend on temps, water & fertilizer. Maybe other stuff too. At least one grandkid seems to be variable.

A flower of many faces.

@DND,
Can you tell us what has the highest number of stars? The highest I've seen is 12. Are we still going to be 3 tickets for tomorrow?

DnD was going to look at the numbers of offering compared to number of active participants tonight to finalize it, but it was currently still at 3

Elena, that is an amazing Daylily!

OK, I've got a few minutes this morning before things start getting busy around here, trying to get my list ready for tonight. Who else is having a hard time prioritizing their lists?! D'Oh!
I've only got about a dozen at 5 star right now, trying to get that to 6 and put the rest at 4 star for tonight. I got through my 5 star list, looking at all the photos and saying to myself:

"Wow that's a gorgeous flower", Drooling
"OMG look look at those amazing colors", Drooling
"Holy Smokes the variegation on that one is divine" Drooling
"Oh I don't have THAT variety of _____ yet!" Drooling

I only found two that I was willing to downgrade to 4 star. Then I started looking at all my 4 stars, waay more of those, and am not finding many Thinking I want to downgrade to 3 star so they don't get in the way for tonight's bidding!

You all are killing me with your superb offerings! Then we have some fabulous players adding MORE stuff! D'Oh!
( Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I tip my hat to you. ) This is going to be an exciting swap tonight. Hurray!
Good luck to everyone tonight! Crossing Fingers! Group hug

I whittled my 5 stars down to 20. That's how many fit on one page, so I at least can see al of my "must haves" without flipping through multiple pages. But I haven't checked the recently added ones, may have to do some more whittling if someone else posts something I have to have.
