You's so right Lynn, I really have enough health issues to give me enough to worry about. Such as, the eye surgery (3rd time) did nothing to correct the tearing problem. 4 toes giving me a fit, and what hurts and worries me most is Ray with Cancer. My heart aches for him. He is so good.

As long as it is rooted, I would not worry too much. The alternative is to divide it to see if the growth pattern may stabilize. I'd watch it for division opportunities and to make sure it stays rooted and, thus, give it a chance to show you its nature. Keep in mind that at some point, if you want to propagate it, you may need to divide it.

Lynn, I don't know enough to answer your question. The crested forms I have, only a few, are relatively new and have yet to produce offsets. I just assume that they will need to be propagated vegetatively. I assume the crested forms have difficulty flowering or offsetting.

Now may be the time to gently take it from the dirt, clean off all the dead leaves and look at the roots. If it has healthy roots I would then replant it.
When you replant it add sand and chicken grit to the area you replant it to.

You definitely want to make sure that it has healthy roots. If it does not, e.g. the brown, dried stuff is between the green plant and the ground and there are no living roots into the ground, then you will need to remove the dead, dried growth, trim if needed and place the green, living part of the plant in contact with the ground, so that it can re-root.

At that point in time, you may find it helpful to cut the plant in half. Be sure to let the cut dry, then place the pieces in contact with the ground. Whether you do surgery or not, misting the plant will help keep it going if there are no or limited roots.

Can you take photos of the process Faye? Like the roots/underside, surgery if needed, plant after removing dead leaves. How fascinating it would be to see those photos. Thumbs up

Was able to get another rooted piece from the part with the twisted root. Have it drying now and will plant in different locations but will plant 1 part back where the original came from.
thank you again Lynn for this fascinating plant. Group hug
