Karen, I really enjoyed your video and tried to look at it as a critic while also oohing and aahing over the beautiful seedlings. Just wow!

When the video first started, there were a couple of blooms that I thought, "what is the name" and I was going to suggest adding a caption with the name of the daylily. Then, duh! I saw the 'seedlings' caption. Note to self: Must watch in full screen mode to see the caption.

Music is very subjective. When I am in the garden, I like just nature's music. However, in a video I think it is a must.
I liked the background music in the beginning, but when the subtitles came on, I found it a bit of a distraction. If the subtitles were in smaller typeset, it might not have been.

Not sure what software you are using, but does it offer transitions between pictures? Some transitions can be distracting too, but I like to add a couple every once in a while to break things up.

I've played around with a few videos of my daylilies, too. I agree that it is very time consuming, but when done is very nice to watch. When I first saw that it was five minutes long, I thought that it might be too long. I know that just a few minutes of video can take hours to edit, so I can appreciate the time that you spent making this one.

There was actually one picture (at the 52 second mark) that I thought was the side of my own house! Did a double-take on that one, lol.

It was a lovely video and I have watched it a couple of times now. Can't wait to see you new one on blue daylilies!

@blue23rose Thanks Vickie! You have given me some great tips and advice. Definitely agree with you about the font of subtitles being too big and blocking the pics of some seedlings. Totally agree with you that the transitions are rough. I need to get a better video editing app going forward. The one that came with Windows 10 is very basic and does not offer many features. It is a good one to start out for a beginner so as not being overwhelmed by too many features but it is lacking in many ways. As you noted, it may also be nice to have a caption below the pic with the cross of the seedling or name of the daylily in small font so those interested in the seedlings or daylilies can have an idea what it is. If I get a better editing video app, I will definitely keep that in mind. I may do that next year with the seedlings I move to the keeper bed.

The vinyl siding that you saw at the 52 second mark is a side of my shed! LOL

I am already very happy that the video keeps you engaged until the end! It's a huge compliment to hear that you watch it several times! Thank You!

Thanks everyone for all of your encouragement and support. Thumbs up Thumbs up

Karen, I can't imagine any of the seedlings in that presentation not being a keeper! They were all beautiful:) But I understand too that that is only one aspect of a good daylily. I like your idea of adding a caption with the cross.

Sometimes less is better in some of those software programs. It can be overwhelming sometimes. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premier Elements (my version is a couple of years old now) and it can be a struggle sometimes when I am trying to match up the music with the pictures. Consequently, I haven't created too many videos and the few that I have created are under three minutes, I think.

I will have to find the picture of my house that I thought looked like you shed, lol! It really threw me for a second.

@kousa, Karen, this is the picture of mine that I thought was in your video, lol! Your picture has a lot more blooms in it and I can see a big difference now. it was just the angle of the shot and the color of the siding that looked so similar.

Mike, I no longer listen to the grass because I have too many daylilies and seedlings to listen to! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Thank you Mike, Sue, Evelyn, Ginny, and Vickie! You all are so sweet and super nice and believe me, I am super thrilled that you liked them. But I really need your help! In order to improve on future projects, I would be so grateful and am open to hear your thoughts and opinions about what specifically made you liked them and what bored you? Please be brutally honest! Wish I can chat face to face with you all. I mean there are so many videos of nature and flowers and plants with great music. Yet, in spite of great music and wonderful photography, some hold your interest and some don't. It would help me alot to find out what grabbed your attention and what did not.

Vickie, no wonder you had the reaction that you did because the vinyl siding and daylilies look so similar particularly of the angle of your pic and mine. Smiling Smiling

Hopefully, you all will produce a slideshow video of your gardens or seedlings someday. You will have so much fun!

Karen, there was one thing that I thought was a little off. Sometimes the picture looked like it did not fill the frame. Those may have been from a phone, I'm guessing. They were great pictures, I just think it took away from the video a little.

I really liked the way some of the pictures seemed to move forward or backward in the frame. And I thought the quality and depth of field in the pictures were wonderful. The focus was really on the bloom in many of the pictures.

I agree and I especially liked the selection of the music. It was all very beautiful. Please let us know what seedlings you will keep. So many were really special.

I don't grow many daylilies here in this arid climate. Here we get no summer rain so I have to water a lot. Mine never look so full and healthy like yours. It shows that you took a lot of care with them.

@kousa, Karen, no intent to hijack your thread, but here is the video I made in 2018 of a few daylilies in my garden. If I had to do it over again, I would make a lot of the captions smaller and maybe add a few transitions. It is short because I got tired of messing with it while trying to learn how to create it.

Vickie, I love it! I can't believe that you have waited this long to debut it! You are right that it is TOO short! I would like to see more. I also like your music and the special effects that you put on some pics. I think the size of the font of the daylily names is just right and not intrusive in the flow of your video at all. There is something special about the daylily flowers that makes viewing them in a video with music an enhanced experience, IMHO. I would love to see a video of daylilies and seedlings from everybody's gardens! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby
