Oh the joys of being that far down south.... Hurray! I have neighbors that have them in the ground and they look like they are doing well, but we can catch a frost here. It will be interesting to see how they fair over the coming years.

I bet you can plant in ground there Robert just make sure good draining soil and if it frost cover them up I had one 4 1/2 ft tall for 3 years (my sister said she killed it Whistling Whistling it was dorm it Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing ) i had it out in the frost freeze each year in a pot and it get some damage on front porch but i finally killed it (ants ate the whole thing hollow sound familiar???

parts of florida drainage is the biggest problem my sisters water table is way to high i had to build up a mound for her plumeria and no tree roots are any deeper then 2 feet deep not even oak trees palms are doing good but NOT oaks!! after they blew over 3 times she told me to come get these damn trees out of her yard they where there 2 years and the root ball was 1 1/2 ft deep and 8 foot round but the tree was 8 feet tall and NO TAP ROOTS!! i planted in my yard and they are going no where!!

Jim has plants in the ground in the Ft Lauderdale area, and he gets frosts sometimes. He said he hasn't lost a plant yet. Freezing for me is anything lower than 65.

Thank you, Doris. Fuzzy photo!

Those huge Adeniums, well, that's their normal size! Many here on St Croix are six to seven feet tall. The book calls them shrubs.

Robert I have twenty or so in ground, the problem with that is in raising them up every year, the roots go down deep deep deep! The alternative is to not raise them and then you don't get the interesting caudex. The other problem is in not understanding that some bloom during different times and as a hedge it doesn't look so good with spotty flowering. You might think about putting some in pots then bury the pot and leave it outside, I did that with one and what light frost we had didn't hurt it and it's much easier to raise it now.

Jim that blows my mind thinking of them as a hedge!!! Hilarious! I'm going through a purge in the back yard..I'm making room for more plumerias but I think I might plant the adenium that I had to trim down due to the bad caudex in, its high and dry and gets full sun....
