I like to plant colorful plants as understory, the way they would naturally grow in the deep forest, to add a pop of unexpected color in the midst of all the green foliage. I get the little cheap Exotic Angel $3.99 jobs or a $9.99 one that is marked down on the Lowes clearance rack and before you know it they have spread and turned into little islands of color

Its a fun way to break up the monotony of all green foliage. Any plant that has inconspicuous flowers but bright foliage is well suited to ground cover in my greenhouse! Its not like I'm going to devore space to annuals like snapdragons and that kind of stuff Rolling on the floor laughing

I am cheap so I do Tropical plants that I can just put in the laundry room for the winter. The only annual I buy are coleus and petunia because the flowers are fragrant. I love fragrance in the garden and on my patio,

Okay I am stretching this.
Water Iris leaves are all I have after that flowered short term in the pond so I use canna for all Summer color to off set the green leaves of the water iris.
