Evelyn I grow 'New Face' too, and it was kind enough to bloom for me in its first year as well. Smiling I really liked it. Lovey dubby
Got to love when irises bloom right from the start.

'Haunted Heart' also bloomed the first spring here, although it gave me a scare as it didn't have any increases. Turned out it was a false alarm, as I got some increases later, but still it wasn't nice of it to scare me like that. Sticking tongue out

My Haunted Heart finally decided to make a rather "scarce" show 2019 (the giant bud is another iris)
William, Evelyn said it well...key word to this Beauty is "Haunted"
Let's hope this Spirit pays us all a visit in 2020!! Thumbs up

A couple of Robert Van Liere irises I received a a bonuses from Iris4U in different years, but that bloomed for the first time last year:

'Cosmic Adventure'

'Ricochet Ranger'. For an iris registered in 2015, I'm thinking that the falls perhaps are a bit too old fashioned looking?

Maybe a drink would be a good thing for the weekend, but unfortunately I don't grow 'Drunks at Sunset', like everyone else seems to do, so here is the tulip 'Aperitif' with a bit of a sunset mood instead: Green Grin!

William ~ Cosmic Adventure is a pretty one.

I agree with you on Ricochet Ranger. But if you like it a lot, then who cares?

William ~ I was a bit disappointed in Drunk's first year bloom. It was a bit short, the blooms all bunched up together and not well-formed. Maybe it will do better this year.

Evelyn, I think Ricochet Ranger at the very least need to be very vigorous, rain tolerant and floriferous to stay long term. Thinking There are so many others that I like more and to little room.
Still, I guess the hybridizer must have had some reason to introduce it!

I think and hope your Drunks will improve. It does sound like it was a bit stressed, with that short stem. Bunched up flowers are never fun. At this time I'm not even super happy about show stems. The more flowers there are open at the same time, the larger the risk is that the entire stem will fall over.

Ricochet Ranger- he has an unusual dense raspberry color. For this, falling fouls are forgiven him. Thumbs up
A lot of fun about an aperitif! Rolling on the floor laughing
