Hi gang,
Doing well just busy with this house and all that is going on with it. Sighing!
No work to be done until Monday for two reasons: first it isn't dry enough to begin pulling the old nails out of the woodwork and cleaning the inside of the bathroom wall and second they cost of ServPro working on the weekend is exponentially more than the cost of their work during the weekdays so...........the dehumidifier is still running in there just doing it's thing. Glare Rolling my eyes. Makes a ton of noise and is annoying.

Enough about that as I shouldn't complain. It is moving along a lot faster than I though. Come Monday clean up can begin! Hurray! Then we shall get a referral for our dry wall and insulation repair. Once that's done we can repair the tile and then paint the wall. We can then install the vanity and be done! It is just frustrating in the mean time.

O.K. we went out for some yummy Chinese food yesterday. Nice treat and we were overdue for it. We deserved the break. Today we are going to make some boneless, skinless chicken thighs out on the grill. Mmmmmmm.....yummy.

Tom....your donuts look most excellent. They remind me of the homemade ones my grandmother and great aunt used to make. I am not a 'sweets' person and do not enjoy sweets but I'd definitely give your donuts a try. Thumbs up They look wonderful and I hope whomever you share them with enjoys them.

Rosie.......that's too funny! A helmet. Yeah, thought of it but what about the rest of me? I'm thinking bubble wrap may be a better option. Rolling on the floor laughing
And like WOW! Your vehicle was hit by lightening and the insurance company refused to pay for it and on top of that....despite documented proof from professionals....they are going to argue with them about how/what caused it? Blinking Confused D'Oh! That's just surreal to me.
All insurance companies suck but it sounds like Progressive sucks more. I'd tell them you are going to take that 'name your price gun' and 'name another insurance company' to represent you. You just may get slightly better coverage. I didn't say 'good' coverage. I said slightly better. It just stuns me how these companies legally get away with this crap.

All this talk of fish is making me crave some yummy sea food. I'm not into fishing either in warm or cold weather but the husband adores trout fishing and has gone here on occasion. He has brought home some trout and cleaned it. I fried it up outside. We cooked it in some lemon and butter in my cast iron skillet and it was delicious. Drooling Nothing better than fresh fish of any sort. I will say I take exception to catfish though. Thumbs down For some reason it is the one fish I never could ever appreciate. Guess everyone has got their 'thing' when it comes to seafood.

Aside from that all is well and just figuring out what to make for the week. Husband has to go back to work tomorrow. I've been spoiled having him around helping me and keeping me company.

Hope everyone has a happy day. I am going to spend the last of the day with my husband. Will get with you all later.

I sent most of the doughnuts packing with my horse helper, I didn't need them around for me to be tempted. I just wanted to try out that recipe. I made a kettle of chili for dinner tonight.

Easy dinner on this dreary day. I had mac and cheese in the freezer from Christmas, heated up a can of stewed tomatoes, added a salad and dinner was done Thumbs up

Chili for me, too. I wanted to make it for several days, and finally felt good enough to do it. We have been eating leftovers, which my son despises.

Ronnie - that was one of my favorite dinners as a child. I loved stewed tomatoes and should have them now, especially in winter when fresh tomatoes are just a dream.

Well, I never thought of taking an ice fishing vacation. The way Gene described it, I may have to put it on my "bucket" list! Smiling

Weak joke. I will let you stretch it out if you like. A tourist from the south who has ice fishing on his bucket list visits WI and finds a large section of ice. Gets out his auger and starts digging a hole. Man comes over and tells him that he cannot dig there. OK. He moves over 50 feet and starts again. Same guy stops him. Hey buddy, this is an indoor ice skating rink.

A better one. Maybe my favorite winter joke. A J. B. Hunt driver (they are known for hiring newbies) is in WI. It is snowing, wind is blowing, visibility almost nil. He calls his office. Dispatcher tells him a trick that the veteran drivers use in that situation: Find a snowplow and follow it. OK. He finds one and talks to the driver. Can I follow you for a while? Sure, I guess so. He follows the plow. 50 min. later the plow stops and the plow driver comes back to the semi and says: OK, I have the Walmart lot done now I am going over to Kmart.

Like them both, Gene. Thanks for the smiles.
I'm not one for ice fishing, but I do appreciate those who fish in the winter. Fresh fish is great to have year-round.

Dinner tonight:

Thumb of 2020-01-05/Whitebeard/a28bac

"A dinner salad" doesn't quite convey what it was. I had two small pieces of duck left, lots of salad greens, and figured to fill out the plate. It turned out to be a nice mix, and plenty for me. The last glass of the Austrian wine was had, and now it's a bit of Sauvignon Blanc.

Gene, I tried not to laugh at your jokes that made fun at Southerners in the ice and snow. I can't keep from chuckling at myself! A couple years ago, we had cold winter with rare ice and snow. I drove to work on the Interstate since bridge was closed. I got behind a large casino bus. I stayed in groove where his tires melted ice. Merging traffic was not happy with me. I was staying behind the bus. I did make it to work
Though I would have liked to follow the bus to casino breakfast buffet!

We do have ice skating rink, at the coliseum. I wasn't planning to dig my own ice fishing holes. I'm coming to hut with fire, floor, food, friends, and fish! Lynda makes fish sound tasty. Hope she will be there!

I bought this pork that was beat up...like a chopped steak but pork. Three of them
I did not know what to do with the darn things

I figured I would make a stir fry....rice for the hubby..no rice for me
I used broccoli, cauliflower, green and red pepper, garlic and onions ...sauced that up in some butter and sesame oil... spices....
Then tossed in cut up chopped pork

The flavor was good
The pork was dry
I forgot the fresh cold chopped tomato's I had waiting in the fridge
It wasn't great...but it was what it was.. Rolling on the floor laughing
Could used a dollop of sour cream ..it was fajita-y
Don't squat with yer spurs on!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

I made a big pot of bean soup with ham today, while it cooked, I made a sugar pie for the DH, had the pie dough in the freezer since Christmas, last one he will get for quite awhile. For dinner we had the bean soup with toasted ciabatta buns with lots of butter, so crunchy and delicious, and sugar pie for dessert, I just had a sliver, it is very rich and delicious. We had wine of course. Smiling

Funny stories! I believe J. B. Hunt is based in Arkansas. I did follow a snow plow to work one time. Unusual blizzard one year on March 14/15. Started on the afternoon of the 14th. Here in the South, if the weatherman says the "S" word, everyone panics and rushes to the store,. It snowed all night, and the next morning I had to be at work (Kroger's) at 8:00 am. Two blocks off a main thoroughfare, got there ok, it was already plowed (we got 15 plus inches). Proceeded to next thoroughfare, the street Kroger's was on, not plowed. Sat there for a minute, and then heard the snow plow coming over the overpass, so I got in line behind him. Was going merrily down Main Street, laughing at all the cars coming the other way getting buried from snow thrown up by the plow. I got to Kroger's which was on the opposite side of the street that I was on. The plow had buried the turn off into the parking lot, so I had to goose it to get in. As soon as I entered the lot, witch had a downward slope toward the store, I started doing donuts in the parking lot because it had turned to solid ice overnight from all the cars driving over it from customers getting groceries the afternoon before. Luckily, I didn't hit any cars in the lot and I managed to bring the car to a stop with no damage except to my pride and my heart, because I thought I would have a heart attack doing all those donuts!

In 1970 there was this very nice family from India living a few doors away in the apartment complex. She taught me how to cook rice. Method I have used ever since. Ask and I will go into details. 2.5 years ago the last burner on my cooktop died so no more rice. Tired M/W, nope. Tried 2 different rice cookers, nope. Now I have a new ceramic, digital , infrared hot plate which gives me the control I need. I am eating rice again! Reminds me of two stories related to that family. When they moved out the cleaning crew came in and gave the place the once over. Stuck my head in the door to see how it was going. "They must have been newlyweds." Why do you say that? "There was rice all over the place." Once as we were sitting outside chatting and she was nursing her baby we all noticed that she switched the baby from right to left side for a minute and quit. I suddenly remembered something that I needed to do, left. The women quizzed her. She had been told by her mom that the right side was milk and after all that milk the baby needed a water chaser - left side.
