Thanks Gina, nothing elaborate and gorgeous like your creations though! I just tend to stick plants into whatever containers I find; years ago I got the glass cookie jar from Walmart and all the other glass containers came from thrift stores. Smiling

Heavens those are fabulous! It just goes to show the creativity that can be achieved 'in and under glass'. After all, back in the olden age, the Edwardian case was conceived for Europeans to grow things like Anthuriums, calathea, philodendron, and orchids indoors!

daylily said:@ccampbell would likely be interested. Amazing at growing aquarium plants.

Anyone who hasn't seen planted tanks, check for aquascaping contests. Here is one....

I took these 2 anthuriums out of my big tank yesterday...the larger one went right into a 1 gallon container, the smaller into a 6"....they were a little TOO happy in there and were rapidly outgrowing the space

I took a 5" cutting off this Marcgravia to propagate it and it already has a new side shoot

For the moment, I think we just need a place to put a thread... a thread in a much-visited forum like houseplants or tropicals will be more likely to get continued visitors than a new forum, in my experience. If we get to the point where every 3rd new thread is about this topic, then it's time to split off.

So, houseplants or tropicasls? I considered miniature gardening, but it doesn't seem to get much traffic.

The Houseplants Forum is where we've had posts about Terrariums in the past and likely the best place to keep chatting about them, until/unless a specific Forum is created for Terrarium Gardening.

Sounds good to me... I wrote an intro post to invite discussion but would love a better photo than my betta bowl with water celery growing in it to use as a thumbnail...

@Gina1960 would love one of your current photos to start the new thread and attract attention to it, any of the middle 3 photos from your post above, although #4 is my favorite... Could I paste it into a new thread in Houseplants, please?

thinking thread title could be along the lines of Growing in & under glass: terrariums, planted aquariums, vivariums, paludariums

Sound good?

Cool, thanks! I figured a new thread that was more inclusive (more like the proposed forum would be) might be the way to go... I do remember that thread!
