I echo everyone's sentiments regarding FB, vs our threads here! I look at but never post there! I love our interactions and feel like we have more useful discussions here!

With that said, here is the foliage from both my Yumi plants that have have been alive the entire winter, despite our multiple days of frost and freezing temps. I also just noticed in the last few days, the NOID from GH Wild planted in the fall has emerged. We'll see how it does for the rest of winter.

Axel' posts on Peony Lovers and Enthusiasts is worth getting a FB account all by itself though, IMO!

Wow, Anya! Wish my MG foliage is that lovely in the fall! I also like the two tone color of your Pastelegance! Have no idea that Pastelegance has such a beautiful red foliage. I guess you don't get PM where you live!

Annette, love the foliage of your tree peonies particularly the one in the second pic! Are these new growths this year? If they are, what a great sign of more nice things to come.

LG, wonderful! Are your crocuses blooming too?

Liz and LG, I agree Did you see his purple tree peony seedling? WOWEE! I hope he will let Adelman peony propagate it for sale. I will be looking out for that offering in the future, for sure! Facebook certainly has its advantages! THere are many experts and hybridizers on Facebook. If you have questions, they can help you out. There is a lot of good information regarding cultivation, hybridizing, and germination on there as well as many wonderful pics. Things move so fast on there that I get overwhelmed sometimes. The most infuriating thing is I cannot find certain pics or posts that I had seen. There is noway that you can bookmark the post except by sharing them on your homepage.

Karen, you can save posts on Facebook! There are three dots up in the top right hand side. Click and one option is save post. You can even set up folders to save them in!

You can also search within groups. Type Pastelegance peony in a group and any post that has it will pop up.

I do save quite a few posts so I can remember the variety name.

And Axel's purple seedling is certainly gorgeous 💜💜

I agree Axel's purple seedling is simply amazing!

Thanks, LG, for tricks om FB ,now I know what to do Smiling

Karen what is PM? The Mackinac Grand had this wonderful fall foliage last fall, I don't remember it had the same foliage its first fall (2018). We'll see how nice it will be this year. I was very surprised to see these colors in peony.

Yes, Axels seedling is the most purple I've seen, really distinctive! Maybe we'll see it offered in a few years!

Anya, I think Karen abbreviated powdery mildew as PM.

Oh, thanks, LG. We have it, fortunately not on peonies. My delphiniums and Trollius are effected a lot.

Thanks, LG! I had no idea that saved posts could be done. This is so helpful!

PM is powdery mildew as LG said. I am glad that you don't get pm on your peony foliage, Anya.

Today I was cutting peony foliage and in general it was not as nice as in other years. Only Ann Berry Cousins was pretty and all Itohs still green and looking healthy. Sure after a few frosty nights all leaves will be on the ground.

Wanted to take picture of Etched Salmon and Yankee Doodle Dandy foliage which were in great condition until yesterday before the snow storm hit Toronto. Most other peonies were in much worse state and I cut the leaves weeks ago. May be I still could do it if they are not permanently damaged. Will see in a day or two.

Do most Itohs have colorful fall foliage?

What foliage, I just mine on Cora Louise. In California I need to do that to send them a signal to go into rest mode. I saw a tiny bud on the main stem which I didn't see it a few weeks ago.

Annie, most Itohs keep their foliage longer here in my area and most do change colors.

Hmm, now I need to rethink at least 1 Itoh's position as fall color change would be really nice. I still have peonies in nursery pots and they haven't changed, but I wonder if it is because they haven't had much frost.

So much to learn in gardening and there is always an experiment with this that or the other thing...keeps it interesting!

Anya, what temp. usually causes the Itoh to drop their leaves?

Annie, in our climate Itohs don't drop leaves, they freeze. The foliage stays green very long, I don't remember if they get fall foliage in my garden at all. So when they freeze I cut them.

It's going to be 42 degree tonight, good for my peonies. We're getting cold air from Canada. But I cut mine down already.

So lovely Anya! My area's climate is a boon for fungal growth. I have no nice foliage this year, not even from Bartzella which usually has been PM free in previous years.
