Back in October of 2012, I got a flash of yellow bird that I thought might be a Tanager but it was an extremely brief sighting and I never saw it again so it's difficult to tell what it might be:

In November 2016, I got my first (and only) sightings of the male Summer Tanager:

In January and February 2016, I got my first (and only) sightings of a female Orchard Oriole:

Thanks @BigBill! That ID always gives me fits! It helps a bunch that you can't tell.

Wow Lin, the mystery flash of bright yellow! It could have been a summer tanager.

LOL, I guess I'll never know. I couldn't even tell if the bill was thick like the Tanager or slender like an Oriole. I sure hope to see some of those colorful Orioles and Tanagers again at some point!

I don't have a clue what most of that info. above is but I posted it. You tell me which pieces of info. You do not need & I won't post that any more.

I forgot to do it on the tanager pics so I will go back & edit that to include it.
I just have the camera set to SR Auto b/c I don't know how to use the other settings.
I have an idea even on my auto - the few settings I can set, are "off". Maybe I should just pack the camera up & send it to Lin so her hubby can set it up right for me like he does for her. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! I would just have to make sure I never goofed & got the settings screwed up.

I just adore those Blue bird shots! Cute little bugger.
And I have to tell you Ann, that middle Tanager image allows me to really see the bill. I can really see the difference between a Tanager bill and an oriole bill. Sweet!! Hurray!

I think your info is just fine. Shutter speed, f-stop, camera type and lens info should be more then enough.

Thanks Bill! The bluebirds are a hoot. It's so neat to watch them grow up. They're all so darn scared at first. Just terrified! They don't even get in the birdbath, just sit there on the edge staring, hoping someone else will go first. They seem afraid to even drink from it. A couple weeks later, they're working out their pecking order. A few weeks after that & the true aggression of some rears it's head.

Here are some male summer tanager shots.

Ann, Rolling on the floor laughing that is funny! I now leave my camera on the Auto or P setting but I don't remember what the P stands for. Green Grin! I tried the TV setting yesterday and took two pictures that were a total blur. The only trouble I've been having lately is with the SD card; when I inserted it into the laptop, it was sometimes taking 20 tries to get it to read. I complained enough times that my husband did something with it using wifi or some such so that I can now download the pictures from the camera that way .... but it seems to take forever! Sad

After you found TV mode, did you set it to a quick speed? Like 1/1000 (listed as "Exposure Time" in the EXIF data, I guess)? See if you can figure out how fast you had it set at. I hate to see you get discouraged with TV mode if it's an easy fix. You can usually find the info by right-clicking on the jpg and looking at properties or info or something. In windows, it's even easier because it shows up in a frame at the bottom of windows explorer when you highlight the picture - as an example, here's my info from that green mess above:

Thumb of 2020-01-31/evermorelawnless/001630

This is from the right-click (under the Details) tab:

Thumb of 2020-01-31/evermorelawnless/f1b4b4

(oh, noodling around, I learned that TV mode (shutter speed) stands for Time Value. And I guess that means that AV means Aperture Value.)

LOL, I just moved the camera button to TV, I didn't know that I needed to change something else. Hilarious!

I'm not sure what windows explorer is, I've heard of Windows for a PC but I have a Mac. Do you mean to go into the menu and those settings? Maybe tomorrow I'll play with my camera a bit. Green Grin!

Lin, if you have a Mac, which is what I have, then LMK & I'll show you how to find that info.

So I suspect that you shot at TV but really, really slow. The shutter was open a long time (comparatively speaking). And, if you're like the rest of us, you're waving the thing around irrespective of your attempts to hold still.

I'm still confused. What do you mean by Mac Photo Program? All I do is import my pictures from the camera to the desktop of my Mac laptop. I just opened one of my photos and don't have any of that information like the i inside the circle.

Well, my husband just told me to look at my computer and told me where to look and I found something that says Photos.app and something else that says Photo Booth. I guess I'd have to set up one of those for importing my pictures from my camera to the laptop? I'm too tired to worry with it now, perhaps tomorrow I'll look into it further.
