They tend to go dormant in bad weather. But twit has more experience with them. He would be the one to answer your questions.

The F1 Excaliber just means these are probably open pollinated seedlings from Excaliber. I'm sure Gary just had a bunch of them and gave them away as such. This wouldn't necessarily be just one cultivar but rather a bunch of seedlings. Each one would be different. You see why I compost mine or give them NO NAME now! Too much confusion! If a seedling is numbered I will use that designation until it merits a name.
