Robert Griesbach bloomed and it look like this. I purchased this lily from Faraway Flowers.Has anybody else got the same?

It appears to be 'Robert Swanson'.

My 'Robert Griesbach' looks identical to Mike's. I think yours looks like 'Robert Swanson' as well.

In plotzing around looking for T. luteum I came across some Griesbach seedlings at Arrowhead Alpines. I seem to recall some folks somewhere stating this is a quality outfit?? Pricey but Dr. Griesbach's seedlings sure are pretty.

I've got some Dr. Griesbach's tetra Trumpet strains growing here. The 'Griesbach Gold' and 'Griesbach Apricot' bulbs I purchased from The Lily Nook located in Manitoba, Canada for a typical price of 3/$24.00. Some I grew from seed,too, like the Pink Picotee shown in the Arrowhead Alpine pictures. Like all strains, there is variation. Some might find that very dissapointing, especially when/if they expect all to be the same. But for me, variation is a delight. Dr. Griesbach, has many cultivars to his credit and usually contributes a generous amount of seed annually to the North American Lily Society seed exchange annual sale held each Spring. Price of a packet of 25 seeds is about $2.00 there. It is my understanding that Arrowhead Alpine grows everything in pots first to verify quality and that could account for a higher price of $12.00. What I don't know is whether they start from Dr. Griesbach seed or bulbs. What I do know is that people in the area there in Michigan certainly have a high opinion of them; I have a son in Ann Arbor, Mi, about half hour from Arrowhead Alpine.

We have a high opinion here in Australia ,as well Lorn.I I have Orienpets,Tricolour Trumpets,Tetra Trumpets, Orange ruffled trumpets and Red asiatics[special ones,'of course']..He also sends quite a bit of pollen over, of which I have about 12 of his latest lavender,crossed with an earlier import - very, very generous person-Anthony

The Arrowhead Alpine website does state that they grow their Dr. Griesbach Trumpet seedlings from seed themselves. Interesting!

I have a giant white lily that someone said was part of the Grand Canyon suite. It is 9 feet tall. Does anyone have any information on it?

Can you get a clear, in-focus photo showing any small markings inside of a bloom?

The correct name of the "suite" is the "American Classics" of which the Grand Canyon strain was one of four strains named after national parks. Because they were seed grown strains and could differ one from another within a strain it would be very difficult to verify that your lily was indeed one of the American Classics. On the other had it sure looks like it could be Ortega, especially with all of the sepals being wide (versus skinny tepals and wide petals). Ortega is known to grow that tall.

I would like to ask how long have you had this lily? Do you remember where you purchased it, or was it grown from seed? You have asked an interesting question because whoever told you it was part of the Grand Canyon suite (strain) certainly has a higher than average knowledge of lilies. Park Seed Company first introduced the American Classics series back in 1995, and since then has had only limited commercial availability, mostly by seed.

If you can still get a 'face-on' picture, that would give a pretty good idea of whether it's a Trumpet or an Oriental Trumpet (Ortega). It won't be the prettiest picture--but it would tell a lot.

I have Lilium Shenandoah. Grown from seeds. It's a 4n trumpet but the flowers are small, but absolutely fertile with pollen from 4n OTs.
