I've got some Dr. Griesbach's tetra Trumpet strains growing here. The 'Griesbach Gold' and 'Griesbach Apricot' bulbs I purchased from The Lily Nook located in Manitoba, Canada for a typical price of 3/$24.00. Some I grew from seed, too, like the Pink Picotee shown in the Arrowhead Alpine pictures. Like all strains, there is variation. Some might find that very dissapointing, especially when/if they expect all to be the same. But for me, variation is a delight. Dr. Griesbach, has many cultivars to his credit and usually contributes a generous amount of seed annually to the North American Lily Society seed exchange annual sale held each Spring. Price of a packet of 25 seeds is about $2.00 there. It is my understanding that Arrowhead Alpine grows everything in pots first to verify quality and that could account for a higher price of $12.00. What I don't know is whether they start from Dr. Griesbach seed or bulbs. What I do know is that people in the area there in Michigan certainly have a high opinion of them; I have a son in Ann Arbor, Mi, about half hour from Arrowhead Alpine.
