Hi everyone! I have a huge supply of 1 1/4 inch electrical pvc and want to build a greenhouse with it. Finding suitable plans seems to be a lot harder than I think. What is the widest you can go with 1 1/4 pvc?

Welcome to Garden.org! Here is a plan for a small greenhouse. You can click on the link to see what we built nearly ten years ago. I have one in the backyard from the same plan that I only use during the few months when its cold here. It comes apart easily and stores away in pieces.

Very nice but hoping to use a hoop style greenhouse. I am in Florida, hoping to use it year round with remay and screen on the sides to keep out most insects. Here the summer sun will burn up your garden. In winter, there are just a handful of days you'd actually need to worry about freezing.

I see many plans for 12 ft wide greenhouses, but interested in going 16 to 20 ft. As I look at your plans, they do appear to be quite good and they give me many ideas. I was concerned that putting bolts through the PVC would weaken the sections to failure. Obviously, that's not happening to you..

Oh, I read greenhouse! Hoophouse I also have, but it is also temporary due to intense Texas summer heat. Ours is over 30 feet long and about 7 feet high. This year my daughter and I put it up by ourselves. The purlin is a little wonky because we got tired! I have lots of tropicals. We have four heaters in there. We use batten tape across the top to keep the wind from sending the plastic nextdoor. Took this photo from the upstairs deck.

You may want to see what @drdawg constructed after his recent move to Florida. He has a shade house for his orchids. He also built greenhouses at his former home in MS.

My shadehouse has metal framing. I've built a single greenhouse (not hoop) with PVC framing but I glued everything together. I really don't know what the maximum width you could safely go with, @ medic5678. What are the lengths of PVC that you have to use?

By the way, welcome to NGA.
