There are a few of us that like to post a bunch of photos of our gardens. Not to take anything away from the awesome Garden Tours articles, it would be great to have a forum that would work for a mini garden tours. What do you think?

Thanks
Joanne

I think this is a great idea...may be the place for individual photos of a lovely scene on a specific day that really doesn't belong on the data base.

We had such a forum but it went for several months with no posts so I took it down and we focused on the garden tours articles instead, which work perfectly.

Garden tour articles can be short, too! They don't have to be extremely long. And we can post them on a moment's notice. Just submit them through the Ideas tab and we'll take it from there!

Just to play devil's advocate here for a minute:

In Joanna's case- she's done a garden tour and now has new photos to share. I'm not sure a whole new article is a good idea.

Also, while we were never able to get folks to post to the forum, there are a *lot* of "tour" posts throughout the site in various forums. Moderators could move them.

Maybe instead we should have a more generic "Photos from my garden" type forum? Where there isn't any pressure to post a tour, but you could just share photos as you like?

Usually I use my blog for my garden images.
Well, until the drought, I did. Sad

But like Trish said, I do notice in many forums there are threads devoted to specific gardens.

Dave's idea might present a good place to keep them all together.

Great discussion!

I like the idea of having a place to put a string of photos that is not specific to roses or containers or veggies - could be a mix of everything. Just a bunch of photos in one thread. Perhaps removing the original forum was a bit pre-mature. We only get 4 to 5 months of a growing season here.

I'd hesitate to move posts from existing threads. Maybe copying would be better so we don't break discussions. Several forums I watch more than others have lots of mini garden tours. Cottage Gardens, All Things Gardening and Perennials most prominently.

I don't I like the idea very much. I already post in the forums that I am interested in. I don't want to go look at pictures in a specific area that probably show plants I am not interested in. Maybe I am missing something here. And I would be major miffed if my posts dissapeared from the forums were I put them!

I kind of like the idea of "photos from my garden." I love to steal other people's ideas! Hilarious! But I do agree with Evan about moving posts from other threads.

But I post pictures. I post in the cottage garden thread. My garden is very cottagey. And I post in the Daylily forum because that is my main flower forum. I also post in the Veggie Forum (now Edibles and Preserving) pictures of my veggie areas. When my iris are in bloom I post on the iris forum, when spring bulbs in bloom on the bulbs forum and so on.

So all those would go in the new forum? Ok as an also but I would not want them off those main forums. Maybe it is just as an extra place to show off?

I don't see why it would be necessary or desirable to move OR copy posts from other threads. I'd think this would just be a neutral place to post general garden photos.

I don't think anything already posted would need to be moved but this could be a home for pictures like the following. I post individual cultivar to the data base but don't know what to do with general shots. I have a few on the Hosta home page but on a separate forum hopefully there would be lots of variety of subject matter. Guess if we tried it again and it didn't work it could go bye-bye again.

Looking at photos of others gardens is in the top three things I most often do here at ATP
I would ''watch'' a forum dedicated to Garden photos.
A lot of that happens in the perennial and cottage garden forums, but I also do not think they should be moved.
