I don't remember if I ever posted about these before so forgive me if I did. We move a lot of dirt, water, etc. We are pretty hard on stuff. Additionally, we buy Ecos liquid laundry soap from Costco. The bottles are large. Being the garden scrounge that I am. We've been using the empty Ecos bottles and huge white vinegar bottles as garden scoops. Each hold a substantial volume of whatever your moving. I sometimes even use one in each hand. We just cut them with a utility knife (careful... Especially on the thickened areas) to maximize volume and serve as scoops. See the pics below.

Notice in that second shot that the company has redesigned the bottles to be more curvy. I preferred the straighter Ansley for both home storage and to later use as scoops. However, the newer ones are perfectly suitable.

Also, if you need a funnel, all you have to do is remove the screw top from the bottle opening.

UV light eventually makes them brittle but it could be a year or more. Mine stay out in all weather. When they break, they go in the recycling bin and we have plenty of spares from the laundry.
Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

@UrbanWild, what a wonderful idea! Thank you for posting it! Also, the pictures are very helpful. I love that you can easily adapt them to become a funnel.

I have always been very frustrated filling pots with soil from bags or from the earth! Now I won't be!

Thank You!

We mix a lot of soil in the wheelbarrow and then moving that to a variety of pots or covering new beds of seeds, spot watering, etc became tedious. They can gulp quite a lot so I don't have to fill as often. Here are the most commonly used products here but we have used others.I think the vinegar is 1.5 gallons.

Actually, the vinegar is a little less volume than I thought.

The Ecos bottles are ~1.7 gallons

You could also use the bottles as containers for plants. Just cut the very top off & poke holes in the bottom for drainage.

Another idea for them: cut the very top, where the neck is. Maybe even some of the side away from the handle. Don't cut the handle. If you slide the handle through a belt you can wear it on your side or in front of you. Then, you have a bucket to put things like berries or small fruit & vegetables in it & have your hands free.
