Eden Climber, there an avocado in the left hand side, I will move this avocado eventually since this spot is great for another tree peony, it's shading by the trellis.

Another hosta that I don't recall the name, but to the left of it, I will plant an Itoh, could be Scarlett Heaven to match the red astilbe in this bed or Sonoma Amethyst, but I need to remove the baby tears first, they are pest.

Sorry for the delayed reply, Karen. Japanese irises grow in full sun and like a moist soil. Dig some peat moss in with them. I gave mine some bulb food this spring, and they seemed to have bloomed more!

I'm lucky that the Crinums are happy here. Not all of them are hardy in this zone, so I have to be careful when I buy them.

Love your roses and Hostas SoCal!
My Empress Wu used to be huge but something happened over the winter and I only have two small ones this Spring. It is growing well, so hopefully it will be huge again in a couple of years.

Here is a daylily blooming this morning in my garden.

Here is my seedling rose. The hip was from Bonica. I believe it is probably crossed with the common Wild Rose because of the clusters of blooms and the large thorns.
It really provides a cottage look.

I'm leaving the garden phlox in front of it. This bed has daylilies, roses, peonies, hardy hibiscus, crinums, phlox, clematis, and a crape Myrtle .

Hi Jasmin, these are it's first ever blooms. Hopefully it will repeat. Whistling Crossing Fingers!

I will post if it does.

@ SoCal and LG thank you very much I am very excited to have these poppies growing in my garden.
@ Alex I have 3 Himalayan blue poppies that survived out of 5 that were planted. I got them as tiny seedlings from local nursery. The big one is 3 years old and the other two were planted last year. This is the first time that they are blooming and I can't tell you how happy I am about it. I make sure that they are always well watered and they get compost once a year in the early spring. They are planted in a sheltered area that is between my garage and the pergola.

Wow, the blue color is unreal! It looks like a flower that only grows and blooms in a magical cave in a fairy land. NOw if we can only bring this color to the peony and daylily. Smiling
