How will this Lavandula pinnata I picked up do here? Will it wilt and die when the rainy season starts?

This may be one of the species that they have adapted to grow here. I have tried others before and the heat and humidity just melted them

I've actually seen signs at Lowe's for these plants stating that they should be watered every other day.

Just yesterday I was picking up some tomato plants from a backyard grower and she tried to get me to buy some Lavender. I declined saying I was not sure it would do well here and she told me to look at the plant inher neighbor's front yard when I left. I almost drove off the road, the plant had to be 4' across and covered with flowers. I could see the bees from the road. She did not know the variety of course. I think the key is good drainage and air circulation.

I have always wanted to grow lavender. When I lived 8n PA, the zone 5b cold and winter wet did it in. Some people managed to get it to grow in pots.

I thought Spanish lavender might grow in Florida. Perhaps in a pot or in a dry but sunny spot so it doesn't get too wet. Have to limit the number of pits because of hurricanes. It gets crowded with all the lawn furniture and potted plants inside.

I am new to Florida. What a difference from the northeast.

I only tried Lavender once in the mid 1970's but it succumbed during a rainy, humid summer. There was an article in our Daytona Beach newspaper some years ago that stated the best Lavender species for Florida's zone 9 were Spanish Lavender (Lavandula stoechas) and Lavender (Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso') They just have to be protected from too much moisture and shouldn't be mulched.

I agree that the Spanish lavender will do best in our area. I have 2 that i put in over 10 years ago. They are a little leggy now but still bloom at the right time. Plant them in and once established ignore them
