I am from one of the southern gulf state, Mississippi. And although I have only visited since childhood,

I love to visit when the trees are all abloom especially the Magnolias.

They are such an exotic and variable flower/plant/tree.

This one is especially lovely. Do you have a picture of the whole bush or tree?

Do you have trouble wintering it over?

I did have a full shot when the tree was much younger but I don't have it on this computer. I found one I have from 2008 but you can only see part of it, I had a big Acacia dealbata behind it but that got frozen over winter 2010/11 when we had 7 weeks below freezing with temperatures down to -17C! Magnolia Susan wasn't affected at all, it has more space now after removing the Acacia, it became a big thug covering other shrubs and plants. I also lost the purple leaved shrub Pittosporum Tom Thumb and the yellow leaved shrub on the left, Ceanothus Pershore Zanzibar but it has made some new growth from the lower stem.

Wow, I am glad the magnolia survived and I can see it is a low growing bush or shrub.

It is lovely. Love the color variation on the inside leaves.

Thanks again for sharing.
