LG, I ordered Golden Angel this year although I'll admit I have reservations about those goldish foliage ones. What's the older one, Golden Wings? Got that one a few years ago and have been underwhelmed. Maybe they need a different setting, in just a peony bed they look a bit anemic to me, maybe they need to be planted in a mixed perennial bed so the foliage color is a feature rather than a "what's wrong with THAT one " reaction....

Although golden foliage sounds interesting I understand that it is merely lack of chlorophyll in leaves, and it is not good for a plant at all. I suspect unhealthy look would happen more often for those plants than unusual and attractive foliage. I might be wrong though.

Well, I'm underwhelmed with it.
It does have one bud, so we will see if it does add anything.

Red Glory opened yesterday. It is so hard to capture the dark reds. It is nice and tall.

Chalice started to open yesterday. I can see why they named it that.

Greenland is putting on a show. I hope it will survive the frost!

Thank you for the above pics showing the progression of opened bud to open bloom. They are wonderful and beautiful! I also love its lush green foliage.

I'm glad you liked the photo series. I thought that one bud looked like an ice cream cone 🍦. 😂

Anya, it's such an early variety that it gets frost damage. This year has been wonderful.

I did get frost last night. It's 35° right now. I used the row cover to cover Greenland and the other budded peonies near it. The pink sheet in the background is Angel Emily.

I've heard some rumors that as a new plant Greenland's flowers are outstanding, but they are not doing so well after a few years. How old is your plant, LG?

I can say I have had Greenland for 5 plus years and the only complaint I have is that it is a slower grower, all other attributes are great, including flower form. Lovey dubby

I saw 'Greenland' at our past president of the local peony society's garden one summer. I hadn't ever heard of it before that. I placed it on my ongoing "must have" list . It isn't one that is very widely available, so when I saw it on Solaris Farms list, I had to snag it. I only wish I could ever get seed from it! In any case, it is well worth growing, Alex.
