Hey everyone.
I propagated some carrot seeds in January 3 months ago in early January.
They are not ready for picking right now it being march to april.
I have constantly kept on weeding and watering them since the hot weeks and days of January.
Some how they managed to survive and flourish with good vigorous growth on the tops.
I am thinking of letting them grow for another 4 in a half months until july where it will be winter where I am.
It needs a good 6 to 7 months harvest. Should I leave it for longer? Just these can't be left for a year too long other wise the mutate into mutant over mutated over grown carrots.
Can any advise me here?
How long can any type of carrots grow before picking? Thank you.

When you carry through the winter they will flower in the spring. The quality drops off fast when they start budding. I plant in September October harvest January til April. My climate is pretty much the opposite of yours. They grow slow in the winter and hold for a long time, but will begin bolting as the temperatures rise.
