Natalie, Jolyene Nicole is listed at 14" scapes (AHS) so yours are spot on, as is ours. It is short, sometimes grows a little taller if conditions are right. This plant was a passalong to us, but everything I have seen about JN seems to match up with our plant, including the large size of the flowers. Also, I would say this is possibly our clearest pink, need to check out Winsome Lady, because so many pinks tend to lean to the peach side. I think our Fairy Tale Pink does that, Now Chance Encounter is a raspberry pink. don't know if that is what Tina wants, but I will also look at Rose Emily, might work for her. These should be available and not too pricey.

These are all so wonderful - I can see what you admire in each and every one of them! I am hoping to see pinks that don''t too quickly wash out to peach/orange/brown, since my super-hot summer sun bleaches any color, almost as they bloom. At times, I can hardly see the flowers on my few plants from just fifteen paces away, they blend so much into the colors of the background. So, I am very delighted to see any light to dark pink that holds up and weathers well for other people! They are my best best to try out, and with many thanks for the affordable options, my hopes for having a garden that truly glows with color next year seem much more likely with your helpful information! Hurray!

My first pink has also turned out to be one of my favorite pinks; Yesterday Memories. It was recommended to me by a daylily person when I first started collecting as one of the most afordable true pinks then available. When I had my outbreak of rust this year, it was surrounded by the rusters, but stayed clean. Another reason to love it. It gets cute little "bunny ears" at times, as seen in this picture. An award winner that is a reliable, profuse bloomer that is winter hardy and disease resistant. What's not to like?.....Maryl

Beautiful flower! Still so affordable, and yet such a key cultivar; parent to 68 registered offspring, a number of them recently produced (someone must have remembered what a superb garden performer it is!) The AHS award was won, I see, for a really meaningful category: best performance over a wide geographic area ... and other daylilies that are rust resistant have found their way onto to that list, too, so its in great company. What an awesome recommendation ... this one will go on my list for hybridizing with others. Hurray!

Tina, you might want to go back and check this thread on favorite pinks and purples. Some really nice ones posted there.
The thread "Favorite Pinks/Purples" in Daylilies forum

Some pinks that have done well for me - Webster's Pink Wonder, Turkey Trot, Classy Lady, Rose Emily, Stolen Treasure - which is really more rose than pink, Mabel Nolen, Joylene Nichole. Just off the top of my head. I guess I have not grown a lot of pinks.

I have a small fan of Loud Girls and I really like it. A friend was dividing his and had a teeny tiny fan break off in fall of 2010. He said I could have it. Hurray! It grew enough that it bloomed this year! Here is a photo this year, with a nice scape and three blooms open. I think LGirls is out of WPW.

Have more pinks than I thought.

Bells and Whistles is a chameleon. Not what I would call inexpensive, but not too bad. These photos are from my garden, just one year to the next.

An absolutely gorgeous pink -- but it's expensive, and the only place where I've seen it is Maryott's...

I think a full range of expenses is nice to show (and recommended sources for finding those cultivars that are elusive bargains). My inexpensive is $5, but it takes a _lot_ of hunting to find a reputable source for them. And, $10 is very affordable, $25 a little splurge, and so forth, mostly for newcomers wanting to sample what works for them and their gardens. Green Grin!

My opinion:

Robin Calderon at Earlybird has consistently good plants, really good prices, and good communication through her website. I tip my hat to you.

Bob Selman at Blue Ridge runs most of his through the Blooming Auction and eBay. I get all mine via eBay. Changed his format recently so most are auction format starting at $10. Easy to get at the price, good communication, nice healthy plants, and bonuses. (He's my favorite Lovey dubby )

Bells and Whistles was $20 and came from Ed Bentley of Bentley Gardens through a mamajack sale. Smiling

What can you say about Bill Maryott beyond he has all price ranges and you simply canNOT go wrong here? Thumbs up

I just remembered another pink that I really like, hybridized by Bill Maryott. It's a little more on the coral pink side. The first picture was taken up at Maryott's a year ago, and the second in my garden this year.

I like the pinks that are more in the mid range of color intensification because in our heat they become so much more pastel and the light ones become almost white. This one happened to bloom when the weather was cooler, so it was closer to the color of Bill Maryott's.

Avedon, I'd be happy if Jolyene Nichole was 14 inches. Almost all of mine were 6 inches this year, and they've been in the same spot for about 5 years. A couple of the scapes got up to 12 inches, but those only had a couple of blooms each. It's still one of my favorite blooms though. Just not nearly tall enough.

I can see that I don't have nearly enough pink daylilies! They are my very favorite, but I've been trying to get a good mixture for hybridizing. I've just got to have a few (or a lot!) of these! Thanks for all the beautiful pictures!
