Hi! I'm new to gardening (please give me any advice). I'm trying to figure out what was left before me because I want to make as much room as possible for edible plants (strawberries, blueberries, etc). Can anyone identify these plants? Are they weeds? Any advice for planting the edible plants in their place? Thanks!

Not familiar to me...sorry, but someone else may know......it might be a good idea to post it in the Plant ID Forum...they're awfully good ...and usually quick...go to forums list and scroll down to Plant ID...

I think it's beautiful as it is.....

If you go back up to the National Gardening home page , there's the small blue house symbol for 'home'....to the right of that, in the bar across the top, you will see 'communities', or 'community'.....click on that , then scroll down to Forums, then Plant Identification to post your pics there...sorry, if there's an issue about only posting one pic as a new member, I don't know anything about that, haven't dealt with that before....

I agree Welcome!

It is a beautiful garden the previous owners really liked ornamentals. That being said, it is now your garden and you can do what you want. Several pictures are of Herb Robert which is a weedy geranium but has pretty flowers. It might be a little difficult to eliminate but it pulls up fairly easily. The plant that will give you the most difficulty is Indian Mock Strawberry (Duchesnea indica). It's the one that has leaflets in 3s and creeps along the ground. It's those creeping stems that are the hardest to remove. You can spray with Roundup or pull by hand for a while, your choice. The rest of the plants should be easy to remove with a shovel and probably won't come back
