Please see new photos & info. in my second post here.
Growing wild on our property zone 8 north central Florida in part shade. Small flowers, can't get a good, clear shot of them with my camera. This plant gets at least 3.5' tall. It has been blooming for at least a month now.
The last photo is of the whole plant --- it got hit by the bush hog so it's laying over on the ground.

I have run across this plant yet again. This is growing wild on our property/house we moved into a little over a year ago. These photos were taken in late June of this year. The plant(s) (there are many) are 6' tall in these photos. The bees & wasps were going crazy over it as if it were a drug to them. The blooms are so tiny the only way I could get anything where you could see was to put a magnifying glass up to my camera lens & that's why the photos of the bloom will look funny as you see the arc created by the magnification. The leaves are hairy to the touch, not softly, more stiffly but not greatly so. When crushed the leaves have a sort of pungent scent along the lines of sage but it is not a terribly strong scent.
The stems are hairy
This is the entire plant in the center of the photo. More growing around it but smaller & also a whole bunch of spanish needle.

Isn't that frustrating? I have trouble when I want my hand behind as a backdrop, can't get the camera far enough away for it to focus well that way. Good eye for noticing this little cutie, whatever it is. Reminded me of snapdragons... http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/...
Can't find a particular species to suggest, but it's got a Salvia vibe to it too.

Try to be more valuable than a bad example.
The stems are square. I checked the Clinopodium that occur in our state & none really seemed to match up. Everything I read stated the aroma was strong & the aroma of what I have is not strong. It does smell minty-ish but certainly not an odor you pick up when you walk past the plants which is what everything I found seemed to remark on as to Calamint.
It's possible it could be Clinopodium carolinianum but I can't see the leaves well enough in any photos I could find. @stone stone, you have this plant --- does mine look & sound anything like yours?

I do have plenty of that here Lin, but no, it's not Stachys. The leaves are all wrong. Thanks for trying though. I am convinced it's in the Lamiaceae family though.

Sorry that I'm just now reading this post... Busy gardening...
While the blooms bear a similarity to my GA savory, Nothing else about the plant does.
Except for the blooms, your plant looks like hyssop.... On checking google... there does seem to be plants with a similar bloom.
