You know, the OP never did come back to this thread.
Anyway, I have been seeing these Suntory torenia hybrids around. They are so much easier to grow than lobelia or regular torenia for that matter. Here are three baskets at a farm stand by me. The color may not be quite as rich as some of the lobelias but it is close.

Those are beautiful, I especially like the one on the right!

For some reason the color is off in this pic I snapped this morning, but you can see it is still blooming. Not growing, but blooming.


If anyone knows why my pic rotated 180° when I uploaded, please share.

And doesn't the spent Pelargonium flower look like a tiny broom?

Tiffany, sometimes your photo app corrects the orientation when you look at a photo but the actual file isn't saved that way. When you upload the photo, it will display the way it was saved. You just have to save the original file again with the right rotation.

Thank you! I did crop, rotate & save, but ended up with sideways pics. I don't think I used an ap, it was Paint program on the computer. The cropping stayed in effect but not the rotation.

I used to have to save it twice. One incorrectly and then the corrected orientation.

This is what my 2 sad Lobelia plants look like now. One is about 50% dead and the other is suicidal.

I pulled all of mine out yesterday.

I pulled out the last of mine today. I needed the pot for something....not dead

Fyi.. all of my lobelia is dead from the heat. Compared to my containers, full sun lobelia didnt last one day longer, I probably got an extra 10 days of straggly flowers in part shade, which was worse.. alternating them with hot weather flowers was best, as my perennials, petunias, geraniums, lantana, nasturtiums and Dalia needed that time to ramp up

I know this is the annuals form and the original topic was a different lobelia
but for some good blue this is the perennial Great Blue . a native here


It self sows and makes nice clumps that the bees love.

It was a gift from the birds many years ago in the middle of my strawberry patch (I moved it) and it has reseeded nicely among the other gardens.
