Typical of many species lilies, Lilium davidii has adapted to reach for the light. The large "smoke stack" in the pic, where lower leaves are merely vestigial, is normal. In their native environment there would not be enough light at that level to make leaf production advantageous. In fact, the "naked" part of the stem hasn't yet finished elongating, and will stretch about two more inches. The two smaller stems will match the old one as they grow.
