I bought a couple Stokes Select® 3 in 1 Oriole Saucer Feeders (Model Number: 38246) some time ago. It was in preparation for feeding an early (FEB) female summer tanager who was enamored of a few jellies/jams/and fruits. She hung around for four weeks before disappearing and I never got around to using them. So, today I'm looking at them and thought I'd ask if anyone has any experiences with them. Photos below. The sugar water feeder ports have a blocking mechanism that swings out of the way when birds use it. Has anyone seen hummingbirds attempt these ports?

Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

I haven't seen that one yet, but I'm on my third Oriole feeder...two of them with that type of "bee guard". The first one, I didn't use the bee guards, and the birds loved it for two years. ..until the bees discovered it. I drowned about 200 bees before the fledglings left and I could remove it. That was with those guards in place. The new one this year, the birds don't like. The holes are too small, so they take one pass at it and go to the hummer feeder. I noticed today that the little yellow ball was stuck open on one port, and had to shake it a bit to get it to close. The first one I got was one of those pretty mason jars with the metal base. The birds loved that one, but the first season they had destroyed the soft port covers. By the end of the second season the ports were bare metal.

I recently purchased this Oriole feeder not knowing what to expect. I have been feeding the birds for many years but never had an Oriole feeder. Now I know what I have been missing! Within a day of putting the feeder out stocked with oranges and jelly, I had beautiful Orioles! I have read reviews of people saying the jelly doesn't stay in but I haven't seen that. I am using the jelly specifically for birds and that might make a difference because it is a very thick consistency. I went out today to refill it and by the time I got back in the house, an Oriole was at the feeder. I am more than satisfied with this product. One more thing, I agree with others that the birds can't get the liquid nectar inside the feeder, so that is a problem, but it's perfect for holding jelly and oranges.
