Are you sure it's a tuber, Evan? Most of the literature refers to storage roots attached to a rhizome.

And Dave, is there any way to remove one piece of information from the parent plant description or would that necessitate redoing the whole thing and thereby possibly losing information that's already been added to the separate cultivars? I've been removing the "suitable in 1 gallon" info from all the Alstroemerias that I've added data to because most of them would choke to death swiftly in a 1-gallon container.

Zuzu, Here's what I'm basing it on.

If you go through the species entries at Kew WCSPF it notes: Lifeform: Tuber geophyte
http://apps.kew.org/wcsp/home....

At eFloras: http://www.efloras.org/florata...
If there are more than one underground structure I've found they note it in the Genus level entry description, when there is one.

Deleting the 1 gal. container reference from the parent plant entry makes sense to me.
Evan

You're right! I'm so glad you're on board, Evan. Smiling I never even would have identified the flower form as an umbel. My idea of an umbel had been confined solely to the simple shape of the flowering tops of allium or dill plants until I read your post and did some image-Googling.

Yes, I have removed 1 gallon suitability from the parent plant. I can also write a script to remove that from all Alstroemeria entries, if you'd like. Let me know.

I'm still having trouble seeing it Green Grin! and not just umbels. I'm finding several/many of the flower forms are difficult to differentiate. As to Underground Structures, fahgedaboudit! I've read there was an aroid expert who spoke of Xanthosoma US as "chubas" because there was relatively universal agreement to disagree on Corm vs. Tuber.

Thanks for the update Dave.

Hi, don't get annoyed but this colocasia tuber/root is a vegetable and is cooked and eaten in South Asia. People with propensity for kidney stones stay away.

Masud, you can go to that entry and make an addition of the information by posting a comment to the entry. That is very good information for that plant. Thumbs up

Lily of the Valley (Convallaria): Lilies of the Valley (Convallaria)

Dave, currently this entry is behaving as a standard entry, data and name editable. Should Genus entries be parent entries? If so I can clean up the data prior to changing it.

Yes, I think the goal is to have all of these "Genus entries" be parent entries eventually. Doing them one by one will get us there!
